If you read the Coach of the Year thread, Satt was the best thing since sliced bread, but amazingly the new coaching staff and Drunk are going to be better.
How bout you guys and the app guys keep your little drama to yourselves. Tired of you guys dominating every thread.

I am not happy with any of these candidates. NB and esp VK cannot be replaced at Troy. I am highly sceptical, actually.
However, we have a great team coming back which will mask the new coaches' shortcomings for a year or so...

Are there internal rumors flowing? Is it looking like Sumrall? Seems the connection and experience is there to be a good hire for Troy. If he is your guy, who y'all want for OC?

Wouldn't sell your program short like that. While Troy hasn't had a lot of coaching turnover, it is a job in an up and coming conference with a program that was a bad Liberty loss away from being in the AP Top 25 at some point in 2018.

Not going to find a lot of excitement in the Troy camp for this hire. Sumerall would have been better received by most, and not likely they can get him as DC unless they maybe promised him the HC job when Chip is out the door in a year or three.

I think half of Trojan Nation will like the hire. He brings a high powered offense that's not too different from Neal Brown's philosophy overall.
He had an insane-good offense when he was OC at Southern Miss. Even when he was OC at Arizona State, they had a high-powered offense. His short stint with Auburn can be overlooked, because it was no secret that Gus Malzahn restricted Lindsey's playcalling this past season.
As far as Sumrall is concerned, I guess it depends on what his ambitions are. Does he stay as a LB Coach at Ole Miss? Or move up to a DC position at Troy? Troy would probably pay him similar to what he's getting paid now at Ole Miss.
If Lindsey is the guy, and he brings in a good DC, Troy should be able to keep rolling.

I’m good with it... pay Sumrall 400k to be our DC (Vic Koenning was getting 350ish) and maybe he will come with a understanding he’s head coach in waiting.

Ok hire. Neal Brown's offense wasn't all that great after all (mostly solid, sometimes good, never great). Chip's offense will be similar. I am just glad we got somebody with P5 coordinator experience (Auburn and Arizona St) and in-state recruiting ties.

Hard sell to bring someone in under the other candidate in a HC search, even in that scenario.
Especially if he knows he's in demand anyway, he could just wait until the position comes open again.
It's still possible, but that's a bit of a stretch.

Don't get why anyone would consider Rhett Lashlee an okay hire but not Lindsey. It seems to me Gus Malzahn's OC's dont have much autonomy and don't have a shot to prove themselves.
I think it's a good hire. And Troy has the best skill position players in the conference and handle an offensive change as well as anyone.

I will say... Auburn rushed for 3,000 yards and passed for 3,000 yards in 2017, which made them and Alabama the only SEC teams to ever accomplish such a feat.
I think Lindsey's offenses could be a powerhouse at Troy.

RE: Troy HC discussion
When asked if it was hard to leave Troy, Vic Koenning said the head coaching job at Troy "would be pretty cool", but his wife didn't think it was a great idea. I love him as a DC, but not sure he would make a great head coach anyway. I don't know if he was actually considered either. Interesting nonetheless that he would likely have interviewed for the job if his wife was on board.
