Football Fun - Guess The ACC network schedule for 2019
We know two games on the schedule for next fall. Looking at everyone's OOC games and taking into account other super secret tibits I am pleased to present the following with my rational:

August 31 - Clemson at GT (we knew that)
Sept 7 - Miami at UNC (both have open dates now, and neither would stink in only the second week - taps states of Florida and NC)
Sept14 - VT at Miami (same reasoning as above and taps states of Florida and Va)
Sept 21 - Louisiville at FSU (FSU will still draw even if they stink)
Sept 28 - Clemson at UNC (Clemson will still draw even if UNC fails to launch)
Oct 5 - NCSU at BC or Syracuse at NCSU (Taps Northeast and North Carolina - any of the three could have just one loss or less at this point)
Oct 12 - WF at Louisivlle (Taps state of NX and Kentucky and it fits the schedule)
Oct 19 - NCSU at FSU (Usually a great game, taps state of NC and Florida
Oct 26 - UNC at UVa (At this point people should be hooked and UNC fans will watch even if they are dead, and UNC haters will watch to root for UVa)
Nov 2 - ND at Duke (we knew that)
Nov 9 - Miami at Pitt (Taps Florida and Pa and one should still be Coastal Race)
Nov 16 - FSU at BC (Taps Florida and Northeast)
Nov 23 - Clemson at WF (Clemson will still be chasing a playoff bearth and league title)
Nov 30 - Georgia at GT (Makes UGA/SEC fans shell out)

(Yes I am bored with nothing better to do)

RE: Football Fun - Guess The ACC network schedule for 2019
Going forward I can see that when Pitt hosts Penn State or a mediocre FSU hosts Florida, or when Louisville hosts Kentucky that games like that will appear on the network to tap the pockets of those outside the ACC fan base. Two in-state ACC schools might not meet for such a game for several years other than perhaps Miami and FSU. I would not expect to see WF v. UNC/NCSU/Duke or NCSU vs. UNC/Duke, or UNC vs Duke for some time. Nor would I expect VT/UVa.

But who knows, I'm not a tv programmer.

Only 1 game on ACCN per week? I was expecting 2 or 3.

I always though UNC vs. UVA was good enough for and ESPN2 or ESPNU spot. I wouldn't think it would fall all the way to ACCN.

From what we've heard, there will be around 40 games total. That would give us at least two games for all 14 weeks, and then some weeks will have more.

It's not about "falling" to the network at this stage it's about creating incentives throughout the footprint to make sure you subscribe.

It works out to about 3 games per week.

If I understood the past arrangements correctly, ESPN sublicensed a block of around 30 or so games to Raycom. Then, Raycom sublicensed around 17 of those to FOX Sports Media Group. So, assuming I have that correct, since it was Raycom providing those games to the the RSNs, I would expect those to go away as well.

That's my understanding as well. Buying back all the rights that were earlier subdivided was one reason for the delay in the ACCN. Now all rights are back under ESPN control so home games will either air on ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU/ESPNews or ACCN.

Cheers,
Neil

RE: Football Fun - Guess The ACC network schedule for 2019
im expecting a few marquis games either on saturday night, thursday or friday night non conference especially until november. If there are 3 games per week i can see triple headers(1230,330 and 730) some weeks with weeks where they use a thursday or friday night just a double header(330 and 730) I wonder if we will have an alternate accn channel like sec or will it be 1 network if there is a split window local rules with other on digital?

Assuming 40 football games a year is accurate, I don't see the need for an alternate channel. Over the past five years, the SECN has had 48-49-50-46-52 games each season, so there is a greater need for the alternate channel with that much content. Now, perhaps it would be needed for basketball, baseball, soccer, lacrosse, etc. If so, they may have the alternate channel available out of the gate.

RE: Football Fun - Guess The ACC network schedule for 2019
Looking at this year's data, 40-44 range seems about right, dependent upon how good the ACC turns out to be in a given year.

Considering the fact that the B1G can have their games aired on ABC, FOX, ESPN, FS1, ESPN2, and ESPNU while the SEC has CBS, ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPNU (and who knows when they negotiate their T1 content what will be added) and still get 44-50 games on their networks, the ACC better get at least 40 games on the ACCN considering our options of slots are a lot less.

Out of 57 conference match-ups this past year (includes ACCCG) only 35 were aired on either ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPNU.

The remaining 22 were moved to RSNs/Raycom or ESPNApp/ACCNE

Out of 56 out-of-conference match-ups, two were neutral site games that aired on ABC the first week of the season leaving 54 games total. Of that total 35 were games belonging to the ACC. Of those 35 only 14 of them were aired on ABC, ESPN, ESPN, ESPNU or ESPNews.

The remaining 21 were either shown on RSNs/Raycom or ESPNApp/ACCNE

So there is at least 43 games there.

Again, every year could be slightly different but between 40-44 sounds right to me. NOTE: the above data was just a first run through, as usual there may be a game or two I missed.

Cheers,
Neil

Just for reference, when I mentioned 40 games above, I'm basing that on the press releases from ESPN and the ACC. It is possible that there could be more, but the official announcements have all listed 40.

I don’t know whether there will be a need for an alternate channel for football but there will definitely be a need for one for basketball, maybe even for two.
