Although I don't know what the hell I'm talking about, someone who does might say those count as "breaks".

People aren't being honest if they say Xavier has not had good fortune in the tournament. They have also taken advantage of it and had some really good wins. Credit to them.

UC had good fortune this past year, but blew that opportunity along with that 22 point lead.

RE: Green Wave Game Thread
I watched the UConn v USF game that followed. UConn looked much worse than I expected and USF much better, but UC should handle both.

We blew a 22 point lead?! When did this happen? Why did you all not say anything before now? This is shocking!!!!!
It's not like the board has been littered with people complaining about it for the past 9 months or so. Because, surely people would want to talk about that without end.

I mean, that's something you don't forget, you don't live down. Even if we were to walk away with a national title after this season, we should still go over and over such an event; not unlike a masochistic-lunatic rolling back and forth across hot coals in some bizarre mix of misery and ecstasy without end.
We should scour every aspect of the program and even the coaching staff's recruiting for the past decade or so, and talk about how we need rip it's heart out and salt the earth where we bury it, so it never again grows back and casts it's hideous shadow on our program.
Why, such a game deserves to override everything that we've ever accomplished in the sport of men's round ball!

We should howl at the moon into future seasons underway, even when the key players from said roster involved in this hypothetical loss, which again, I'm sure never happened; because certainly we all would have heard about it by now, graduate and go off to their professional playing days.

Just kidding of course....
I know you're not one of those people but 03-puke sick of hearing about it already.

I hereby declare that N. Brooks, T. Scott, and J. Jenifer are heretofore no longer to be referred to as 'Stiffs'. All references to the contrary are hereby revoked and nullified.

uh, at this point, I’d take that. Rather beat those three enroute to elite 8 than lose to St Joe, Nevada, Harvard, UK, etc in first or second round...

Actually, my point was that everyone lauds X for their tourney record but never acknowledges that they caught a lot of breaks in route to those coveted elite 8's. It's not like X has pulled a lot of major upsets in the tourney, either.

Meanwhile, UC usually gets paired up against the Golden State Warriors.

I despise Xavier but, dude, know what the hell you are talking about.... they have been to 3 elite eights. 2004 as a #7 seed--beat a 10,2 and 3 seed. 2008 as a #3 seed--beat a 14,6 and 7. 2017 as an #11 seed-- beat a 6,3 and 2. Looks to me like they beat 5 teams that were seeded higher. Really see no breaks.

hmmm... Lehigh, Georgia St., and a 12 seed Wisconsin team were all post first round X opponents.

Although I don't know what the hell I'm talking about, someone who does might say those count as "breaks".

none of these games were part of any elite eight year......04-cheers

Still a little worried about Brooks when he plays a legitimate D1 big man his size, he struggles.

nobody said X has not had good fortune, it was stated that they had that good fortune during elite eight years, I simply pointed out that was not true. You like kenpom or the new NET better.

Kenpom. NET doesn't seem very good. I'm hoping it will be better than RPI. I will always prefer good predictive metrics to other metrics. NET tries to be all things. I never understood why they didn't just group by kenpom, sagarin, or some average of the best predictive rankings like they used to do with RPI. You can still have the same discussion of resumes from those groupings and the same discussion of "eye test"...your resumes just are more accurate (not perfect...never will be).

I thought Brooks's best game was against UCLA and their big freshman McDonald's All American.

Jenifer may rate as one of if not the most under appreciated Bearcats of all time.
Scott has looked a lot better than I thought he would.
Brooks really needs to be stronger with the ball and use his size.
If Nsome developes some offense he is going to be something special. Love how hard he plays.

In fairness, the Mighty Lehigh Mountain Hawks were pretty good that year X drew them.

Brooks's played the game of his life against UCLA, everything he threw up went in. I think strength bothers brooks moore than that tall skinny mcdonalds all american did.

Brooks, Scott, and Broome are all wildly inconsistent. Scott and Brooks have struggled against the better teams for the most part and Broome is all over the place regardless of opponent.
