From JMU Athletics' twitter page...

...nice to see the new indoor practice facility being used (by JMU MSOC). I imagine some others teams will get good use of this facility as we progress closer to spring sports schedules opening while winter drags on.

Makes you think that the Good Counsel LB twosome might stick to their commitments and he figures he won't get any PT/reduced PT.

Dismissed for violation of program rules.

It is unfortunate, but break team rules and suffer the consequences.

I have no clue what he did......but every player should have been towing the line with a new coaching staff coming on board and they are old enough to understand that. This sends a crystal clear and strong message to the team/locker room that no individual is above the team.

Cignetti running a much tighter ship than Houston....guys are going to have to lineup quick. Kicked off for similar reasons to those still on the team from prior years.

Perhaps, got no idea on what the infraction was or if he was already on thin ice.

But I agree it does give the impression that Cignetti intends to run a very tight ship which makes sense since he coached for Nick Saban for several years. I suspect it will be his way or the highway and very little tolerance for transgressions. Which I don't see as an issue one bit. if this has been communicated to the team/players they clearly know the expectations and know there will be consequences.

I have no inside knowledge one way or the other, but it "seemed" like Houston did run a tight ship. Are you suggesting that was not the case? Or that Cignetti is a top tier disciplinarian?

I mean Houston did keep our best lineman out for most of the season due to a violation

I think Houston ran a tight ship, but I know Keshaun was booted while another last year wasn’t for the same reason, same number of offenses.

Think it send a good “no bs” message, though.

While it did seem MH "ran a tight ship", as to the individual in question, while I could be wrong, I believe that was a JMU mandated 5 game suspension. I believe it was the same suspension that cost JMU its starting QB back for 5 games in 2011. Don't think MH had a say in the matter other than maybe not playing him for a 6th game.

Couldn't agree more. He was a legitimate FBS talent with his size and speed. Wish we used him similar to Abdullah as a feature back

2018 True Freshman Safety, Hayden Mann, has announced he’s transferring from JMU.

My theory is that he was chinked up and hurt most of the year.

Looking at nothing but his Rivals page, I can’t help but feel like this is not much of a loss. Might be a little mean to say, but interested to see what Cig can do with the ‘ship (assuming Mann was on one).

A shame Marcus didn't get more touches. He should have been our feature back, in my opinion. Dynamite player who we could very well see playing on Sundays.

Hayden Mann wants to play QB and that appears to be his motivation in transferring. He played the position in high school.

Damn,

Did he just score on RU and wmgt AGAIN?

Anyone guess if he’ll get any looks at next level? I think he could play.

I think he'll get some run (no pun intended) in rookie camps and OTAs, and maybe be on the extended rosters come August, but I'm not sure if he'll make an opening day roster. I hope I'm wrong because we need more Dukes in the NFL, but I think this goes similar to Abdullah.

Hopefully he has a good pro day. Definitely can see him making a rookie camp at least. Think he has a bit more speed than Abdullah did so that should help his case

Excellent news for our recently depleted RB depth - Jawon Hamilton got a medical redshirt approved, so he's got two years left at JMU.
