RE: Conference Priorities for Football in 2019
What pisses me off the most is CUSA basketball coverage....Bein was nice when on Direct TV, but now not even an option on Direct TV.....Last night freaking Jax. St. vs. Belmont was on ESPNU yet all I had for WKU hoops was radio, (felt like the 90s again), when the OVC has better TV coverage than CUSA, something is wrong....I think I saw where the OVC is ranked 26th in Conf. RPI, 26!! CUSA is ranked 11th I believe and yet we have zero TV coverage almost. We need to get Thursday night spots from OVC or play Monday night if that's what it takes for basketball...I am not as worried with football TV coverage, I think we can do a lot better in hoops coverage especially all the momentum we have with the recent success in NCAA tournament.. Every broadcast almost talks about what CUSA has done in tournament yet we are losing TV coverage to the freaking OVC...

RE: Conference Priorities for Football in 2019
The reason espnu showed a OVC game last night and Western played on Bein....

one cost espn nothing and the other game was paid for by Bein, OVC made nothing, CUSA got some dollars out of it. espn has more content than they need and sells off the other games to CBSS and other outlets.

So why would espn pay CUSA anything? CUSA told the biggest sports TV Network to f'off and went with Fox and that has nothing to do with the current people (other than a few Presidents of CUSA schools) in charge of CUSA.

Anyone could have watched the Western game...cost $10 on FUBO. While I dont like spending a extra $10, its still a lot cheaper than paying $30 to watch Western play UNCC in Diddle.

Agreed. I have always said the exact same thing. It's pathetic.

Murray St leads the OVC in attendance with 3,541/game. They are the ONLY team in the OVC to average over 3k/game in attendance. To put it in perspective they would be 7th in CUSA and we have 3 teams averaging right at 6k or more per game. AKA, we have much larger fan bases and thus more potential eyeballs for the networks.

Maybe we should hire their commissioner?

The ultimate goal for the conference in terms of football should be to have an East division champ and a West division champ both undefeated or 1 loss. We need to have two ranked teams in the championship. That would be awesome.

I do believe it was Dr. Kopp who voted for that (God rest his soul).

Overall, there's only 2 schools worth taking. That is Louisiana and Troy. They are the only 2 programs with respectable averages in both football and men's basketball.

App State is solid in football but averages like 600/game in basketball. No thanks.

The Sun Belt is in a tough spot right now. App St. lost Satterfield, and Troy could be losing Brown. Those were the two best football programs. Arkansas State is the only program worth having, but I have no interest in expanding beyond our current 14. Truth is I'd prefer we shed an under preforming team in the east and west and be at 12.

Ark St averages 992/game in basketball....no thanks!

RE: Conference Priorities for Football in 2019
I remember a Coastal Carolina team toasting our champion, UAB. On the football field, they're every bit as strong as C-USA or the MAC. If you consolidate the conferences, you control FBS membership from the bottom, which is very important long term. We also renegotiate TV contracts from a stronger vantage point.

I mean that's because we've had two shite coaches in a row hired by our former AD instead of hiring the man that should have gotten the job (Coach McMahon - former player / asst coach, who is the coach of Murray State).

We haven't always sucked. Just do now. During winning seasons games could have 1200 - 1800 people there.

Are we a basketball centric conference or a football centric conference? I'm sure we have a program or two that linger around 1,000 per basketball game too.

Troy is arguably the best football program in the Sun Belt and they have good attendance (for Sun Belt) in both football and men's basketball. Louisiana has the best overall fan base in the Sun Belt but they haven't really won anything that I can remember? Either way, according to 2018 attendance, those are the two biggest fan bases.

Troy is losing Brown, so they are huge question mark right now. It is hard to believe their next coach can keep them at their current level of play, and their basketball isn't anything special. App State is in the same situation with their football program. The ULL fan base is annoying. Combine that with the fact they have been losing, and we really don't need them. Arkansas State has a smart AD. If North Texas would not have poached their basketball coach, they would be pretty good right now. I think within a few years Arkansas State will be among the top football and basketball programs in the Belt. Of course, they think their is a place in the AAC for them, so I doubt they would be interested, and we have too many members right now. C-USA needs to get down to 12 programs.

Maybe I missed the advantages of expanding to take the "Best" of the Sun Belt into CUSA. 01-wingedeagle I can't think of a single positive reason for CUSA to expand with any additional schools. Why would a conference that receives a paltry $200,000 per school in conference revenue per year add one more mouth to feed?03-banghead As much as I like all the schools in CUSA; I'd rather see us shrink the membership first, and then examine re-organization. (Example: UTEP and UTSA end up in MWC, reduce our footprint)
