Acquaah is a solid player but lets see when the other teams Defense Efficiency increases will his production decline. Good luck Cal Baptist

When did I say that CBU was going to beat NMSU?

I'm just stating my opinion man just like you did.
Actually, whether you realize it or not, you are not just stating an opinion. You are making an inference that Bobcat did not make. Your response here makes it look like Bobcat said CBU was going to beat NMSU and he did not say that. There is a difference between just stating an opinion and making an inference on something that was not said.
My apologies in advance if my post offends anyone. It just seems like our culture is going crazy with people saying they are just "stating an opinion" when they are actually doing more than that.

He made a comment about the CBU player being better than ever player on the NMSU roster. My opinion was that was fine because one player can't beat NMSU by themselves.
Well I guess that is no longer true. Looks like that one player did beat NMSU. Congrats to the Lancers! Great win!!

RE: WAC basketball week 9
Just got back from the game. I was stunned. CBU took it to NMSU from the start. The Aggies really struggled to get decent looks on offense in the early part of the game and defensively they had no answer for Milan Acquaah. They did not consistently match the energy that CBU was bringing.

CBU did not rebound well, their big men were in foul trouble and they had only six assists for the game and 16 turnovers. CBU won because they shot better and really got after it for 40 minutes on defense. Oh, and Rick Croy is a very good coach.

There were 3,304 fans in attendance and they made a lot of noise down the stretch. It could have been a lot louder. There were not a lot of students in attendance. School starts on January 9th. By the way, that arena is a very nice place to watch a basketball game.

In an interview after the game, a very ebullient Croy talked about the significance of beating NMSU, stating that, "New Mexico State set the standard for the WAC." He better enjoy it, because CBU will not sneak up on NMSU in Las Cruces later this season.

Wild start to conference play. Congrats to CBU. Not too excited, however, about what that outcome plus Aggies having a full week of prep for GCU plus playing in the game in LC might mean for the Lopes next week.

Those were my thoughts exactly. The Aggies have a week to prepare for the Lopes and they certainly do not want to go 0-2 to start conference play. The Lopes were going to be in a battle to begin with in Aggie land, but now .... oh my!

CBU will have their hands full with the Aggies on Thursday Night, but CBU can counter with the best player in the conference to this point. Guard Milan Acquaah is leading the WAC in scoring at 22.2 per game, he is 8th in assists per game, 3rd in steals per game, 3rd in three point field goal percentage, 6th in free throw percentage, 12th in rebounding and 16th in field goal percentage. Anyway, it should be a fun game.

Acquaah is probably the most productive player in the WAC. But, I'm not sure he is the "best" player. CBU relies on Acquaah to shoulder a heavy scoring load. On the other hand, NMSU has a wealth of depth which keeps everyone's numbers down. There is also an argument for Seattle's Myles Carter being the "best" player in the WAC currently. He is 5th in the WAC in scoring (15.2 ppg), 1st in rebounding (8.5 rpg), 4th in FG% (0.605), and 1st in blocks (2.5 bpg).

I would agree that NMSU has a deep roster, but let's face it, no one on the NMSU roster is close to what Acquaah is doing to this point. We will see what happens in conference. Acquaah is getting a lot of help. CBU is leading the conference in scoring, rebounding, free throw shooting and is second in three point field goal shooting. Conference play will test them. I am not sure they can keep that up in conference play.

Carter is a good player. His rebounding, scoring and shot blocking are good. But his game still needs a lot of work. He has 10 assists and 37 turnovers in 15 games. He is shooting 54% from the free throw line and he needs to cut down on the fouls.

One player isn't going to beat NMSU. He could be the best player on the court, but NMSU depth, and our strong defense is going to cause a lot of problems for Acquaah and the Cal Baptist basketball team.

"Wow. I guess I was wrong. Good job and hats off to Acquaah and Lancers." -No Frank Ever

Exactly how we all saw this week playing out, right? Haha. Life on the road is going to be brutal for all teams this season. Should keep things very exciting through the end of conference play.

Week one of WAC play is in the books. The home team won 6 of the 7 games. Gonna be a fun, fun season! 02-13-banana
The loser of next Saturday's UVU vs. SU game will start 0-3 in conference play. Did not see that happening!

That was a crazy week of WAC basketball. I did not see CBU beating NMSU and I did not see CBU blowing a 16 point 2nd half lead and losing to UTRGV at home. NMSU, UVU and Seattle are a combined 0-5 in conference. This is going to be a wild ride in the WAC this year.

Maybe I’m alone in thinking that good teams shouldn’t lose at home, but I’m surprised so many are shocked (including those who cover the WAC) with the 0-2 start for UVU and Seattle. They had a tough start of the schedule playing on the road. Seattle has one more road game to go and may well end up 0-3. I am impressed UTRGV got the road W at CBU given how solid CBU has played this year.. but I think people are blowing the 0-2 starts out of proportion. It’s not like we’re talking about losses at Chicago State, UMKC, or UTRGV (no offense to the Vaqueros but they haven’t held home court very well with tougher opponents). It’s not the end of the world for either team, and they’ll make it up in their own home games.

As a GCU fan, that is what I am worried about. GCU's last two conference games are road games at SU and UVU. I can see us easily dropping from first or second in the WAC standings to third or fourth.

Tough way to end for sure. Winning on the road is difficult in balanced conferences, and the WAC is balanced overall. Just need to take care of business at home.

I do think that the end of the UVU/CS-B game was a complete shitshow. With the clock stopping TWICE and the refs having to go by manual stopwatch, I have a hard time believing that the clock was correct at the end. Obviously what's done is done and hopefully UVU and Ben can rebound from this and take care of business on Saturday.
