Wasn't Richt hired under similar circumstances? He left/got fired from UGA and within a day or two was announced at Miami? The implication was that Miami was in talks with Richt for some time. I don't Diaz would have left for Temple if there was any indication that he was in line for HC.

Because of the way things went down I'm inclined to believe Diaz when he says he had no idea Richt was going to retire.

Exactly. Why do that to your soon-to-be-smployer -- saddle them with a $4 million dollar buyout for 2 weeks of "sorta" work.

If he had known, he woulda sat tight, and taken the promotion.

Temple will be all right. It's a dead period right now. The signing date is in February. They now have an extra $4 mill to help find the next guy. And Temple has shown an ability to hire well ... and keep their momentum going. It's an attractive gig for that reason alone.

Plus they'll get 2.5 million from Gtech while getting their whole recruiting class signed. Not bad.

Yep.

The $2.5 mill and the $4 mill is greater than what they received in 2017 from the AAC ($4.92 mill).

That's amazing.
