This is going to be a nice test, but a tough opener, for our guys. Towson has played better as of late (winners of 3 of their last 4). Tribe will need to pick up the defensive intensity and continue the good shooting from outside. FTs could be the difference, so I hope to see improvement at the charity stripe, as well.

Wmmii and Leadbolt plus 2 attending. We are +8 point on ESPN with 63% chance to win. It is simple, we shoot well combined with good D and we win. We saw it in the last 30 minutes of JMU on Friday at home.

RE: MBB - Game 14 - Towson
Worth noting that Towson big whistle Pat Skerry was a finalist for the head coach job at W&M back when Tony Shaver was hired in 2003. Skerry may have actually been the front-runner, he was an assistant coach for the Tribe under Rick Boyages from 2000-03. Skerry's actually done a heck of a job at Towson, the program was in shambles when he took over in 2011, the NCAA banned the Tigers from post-season play due to shoddy academic performance and the team was a dismal 1-31 in 2011-12. Towson made amazing improvement under Skerry, going 18-13 the following year, in 2012-13, and have been good ever since. Apparently on solid ground academically as well, having graduated 21 of 21 players under Skerry.
Having said that ... like most Tribe fans, I'm not a fan of Towson's style of play. In recent years, the Tigers have been a polar opposite of W&M. A very physical bunch who defend very well and crash the boards with a ton of aggressiveness. Towson is always very athletic and long and typically do not shoot as well as the Tribe from the line or the arc. The W&M-Towson game is always an interesting matchup of contrasting styles of play.

I’m a big fan of their style of play. I’m not a big fan of playing against it. Athletic, physical, aggressive, and tough defense is a good way to win a lot of games, even when the talent might not be there. Gibbs adds another dimension to their team, as he’s shooting over 40% from behind the arc. Closing out on shooters and boxing out will be musts to come away with a win.

We should press them. They don't shoot real well and reducing time on the shot clock may force them to take bad shots. Seemed to work against JMU

This feels untrue. Doesn't Towson constantly have players transferring in and out?

I think you mean Brian Fobbs, their 6'4" Jr. Guard, that shoots over 40% from three.
He, surprisingly, for someone who shoots so many threes, is also a force on the offensive boards. Another Jr, 6'9" Forward, Dennis Tunstall already has 48 offensive boards this season. Not a lot of strong scorers, but, typically, the missed shot and follow up dunk still works well.

Game will be a big challenge for Nathan. Towson is always very physical and I'm certain they will
roughhouse Knight and come at him right from the start. He'll have to control himself and not pick up silly retaliatory fouls.

Agreed. Big chance for a statement game from Knight.

I did, thanks. Apparently, iPhone doesn’t think Fobbs is a name.
