The time has come to update our rankings before conference play begins. It doesn't matter if you put in a poll previously or not, anyone can submit a poll here for the midseason. I am hoping at least one fan from each school will participate.

I ask that you submit your poll no later than Thursday, January 3 at 4pm eastern for it to count. That is when a majority of conference games begin.

Oddly enough, we have two conference games this Saturday and the conference has OOC games up to Monday, Dec 31. If you submit your poll before the due date and want to update it based on games this weekend, feel free, just send in another post saying you've done so.

This was the wrong year for MT to have the 4th toughest OOC schedule in the country. We really needed a North Texas schedule.

I mean, I want ODU to win the conference, but it's OK if Western Kentucky can put a full team on the floor.

If we finish in the top third of the conference, I’ll be shocked. I’ll also be the first to admit I was wrong about losing Penava. We just aren’t getting the production from our bigs. Oh, and now that Bennett is out for the season, I just can’t see us winning the season let alone the tourney.

I think it's fascinating that, for the most part, the top-half of the conference has played the weakest schedules and the bottom-half of the conference has played the toughest schedules (with the exception of Marshall).

That's a major reason I think we'll see a lot of near-.500 records come conference play (as some of the bottom half could've padded their W-L record with some cupcakes and the top half could've really taken some lumps against tougher opponents). I don't see anyone running away with it.

I will also say that ODU has been the most impressive the couple of times I've watched them play.

Doesn't help the conference much if the top teams are losing players.

WKU? Please----- Charlotte has 7 healthy scholarship players and uses 2 walk-ons for double digit minutes. Not feeling sorry for WKU.

Anyway, I haven't followed too many of the other teams closely, but UTEP lost at home to Norfolk State. If they are better than 5 other teams in this conference, we got some major issues.

Both of your assumptions are true. You can replace one of those FIUs with FAU, the second probably.
