Merry Christmas +1 day, y'all. The "real" basketball season starts Friday...hope Santa doesn't forget what I asked him for.

Given our pre-conference record it is easy to be discouraged, but we all knew it was going to be tough and hoped that the increased level of competition would get us ready for conference play.

If we beat those teams with real time RPI's below ours and lose to those teams above ours, we will finish 12-6 in conference play. So far that has been the case with 2 exceptions where we are still 1-1 and net out.

That performance here on out would put us in good shape going into the tournament (4th seed).

Here's hoping that the walking wounded recover and that we play at or above our current ranking.

That's my feelings and prediction for the conference season, as well. That also makes these early home games VERY important. We have to Defend the Kap.

The NET, RPI, Sagarin, and KenPom agree that you're fourth in the CAA. You, Hofstra, and Northeastern open with two home games you should win. Charleston's game at UNCW is harder than what the other three have, but it would still be a bad loss for Charleston. There's a big separation between third and fourth, but if you win your first four and beat Hofstra or Northeastern, you'll be in great shape after a third of your games. After JMU you host Towson and go to Delaware and Drexel. Delaware is shooting well and has Ryan Allen back. They have a tough start with trips to Hofstra and Northeastern and hosting you. If Delaware loses their first two and beats you, they would be in good shape for a bye and possibly fourth.
