App fans— Is this right?
Supposedly Drink s contract is for around 450K with incentives that could up it to 750K. Is that in the neighborhood?

If it is App s AD should be commended. I read many App fans saying the new coach would get over 1 million. No need to pay an unproven head coach that right off the bat

RE: App fans— Is this right?
My understanding was it was 450k base with the normal baked in incentives (media/licensing/etc) to take it to 750k.

Incentives for performance should put him close to 1 mil.

This is right. Glad were finally paying our coaches (comparatively).

Base Salaries are almost impossible to judge because a lot of schools have state laws regarding how much they can pay a coach out of State funds That means everything else has to come from Booster groups and media deals.

App and GS are very close. as I understand Lunsford makes about 650K with incentives that can get it to around 775K

I think $1.12 million is the max. Or something there abouts if he wins the CFB next year. But I think he can lose every game and still walk away with $750k

No. Not correct. He is making $750k with incentives to $1m+. His base is coming from two different sources which is why there may be some confusion.

Did App get a buyout from UL? I'm quite confused as to what DG's motivation was (Gillin, not Glenn) for reducing the buyout, knowing Satterfield was going to jump ship. It seems that it would have been in the best interest of the University to increase the buyout as much as possible.

It's basically the same salary Satterfield would have had in 2019 going forward. The only difference is the buyout is salary multiplied by years remaining instead of one year's base salary.

Right. He's making in year 1 (more or less) what Satterfield was making in year 6.

RE: App fans— Is this right?
Gillin didn't reduce Satt's buyout. Gillin gave Satt permission to interview, which meant a $425,000 buyout, which Louisville agreed to pay.

It's professional courtesy. If Gillin doesn't allow Satt to interview, word goes around the coaching fraternity and hurts App long term.

It would have been a needless hill to die on.
