Might as well! We won't have the money to fire him this year, likely next year too unless the ACCNetwork Money is good and football takes off.

Until then, all hail our glorious Chairman Pastner!

Maybe we need to change the subject to Danny Manning. Can Wake afford to fire him? Can they afford to not fire him? Can anyone win at Wake without having a Tim Duncan fall into their lap?

Can him and hire Dave Odom Jr before it's too late. He proved he can beat UVA.

That awkward moment when the coach of the Virginia Tech basketball team has to give you a "pep" talk after looking utterly feeble and helpless in the 6th consecutive loss (we're at 7 and counting now, btw).

https://www.ajc.com/sports/college/obser...cf5oZFioK/

Quote:Afterward Perhaps 30 minutes after the game ended, Williams sought out Pastner in the Georgia Tech locker room, where the two coaches and longtime friends spoke for several minutes, with Williams doing most of the talking. It was a pep talk. Pastner said later that Williams told him how difficult it is to prepare for Georgia Tech because of the unconventionality of the Jackets’ offense and defense.“And he said you can keep getting better, but the wins maybe don’t show up,” Pastner said. “He goes, ‘You’ve just got to stay the course on it.’”It was perhaps not the thing he wanted to hear most at the end of the night, but perhaps not the worst thing, either.“No one’s here for moral victories,” Pastner said, “but I do believe in our course of action.”

He may be the only one on planet Earth who does believe in this course of action.

I heard a poll was taken and the other 14 ACC coaches unanimously supported Georgia Tech keeping Pastner around.

Enter tournament as #10 seed.
Play worst team in conference (15 seed)
Losing by 20 at the half.

Hello chopping block. All former coaches have received their last paychecks from the Institute. Get ready.

Oh yeah that's right Paul Hewitt comes off the books this month. GT went from paying 3 basketball coaches to paying 1 in about ... 18 months? This one is sadly owed too much money to fire (yet). :-/

You should really feel badly for Wake Forest.....they still owe Danny Manning about $18 Million.

RE: Next up on the chopping block: Pastner
The absolute worst thing about Pastner is he manages to give hope to about 50% of the fanbase. They continue to believe that he is going to somehow turn it around. When you owe him a ton of money and he has fans still on his side, it makes it an easy choice to keep him around. Maybe you can get lucky like Memphis and another Georgia Tech comes a long to give him (and you) a way out.

He's a great developer of talent, and he has been to NYC so he knows how cool it is. GT should keep him and maybe extend his agreement.

Reveno is. Sadly he was head coach at Portland State where he flammed out. But he can coach bigs at an elite level. The person not living up to their end of the bargain is Pastner when it comes to being an alleged top recruiter.

RE: Next up on the chopping block: Pastner
The opening round of the ACC tournament is hereby called the Josh Pastner Invitational now.

Quote:The question for Pastner: When will Tech dance again?

Josh Pastner is still stuck on Tuesday. The big boys – Duke, Virginia, Carolina – aren’t even in town yet, and Georgia Tech is again headed home.

Back when the ACC tournament featured only nine teams, the 8-vs.-9 opening session was known as the Les Robinson Invitational, a nod to the N.C. State coach who landed there four years running. With 15 in the field, Tuesday has become the day of the double-digit seeds. Three times running, Pastner’s ACC stay hasn’t lasted into Wednesday, to say nothing of Thursday or Friday.

https://www.ajc.com/blog/mark-bradley/th...3v27RzklL/

Quote:Gminski: “This is what, (Pastner’s) third year? (Wake Forest’s Danny) Manning, this is his fifth, and he hasn’t gained a lot of traction. I think (Boston College’s) Jim Christian is kind of in the same boat. I would guess that the (Tech) fan base was probably expecting better recruitment.”

If you listen to Pastner, you’re told the breakthrough is nigh. If you’re a more jaded observer of Tobacco Road doings, you wonder. You’ll also note that Gminski just lumped Tech with programs that could see their coaches fired before the week is out.

RE: Next up on the chopping block: Pastner
Georgia Tech athletic director Todd Stansbury just made a major hire in football and he is not looking to make any changes anytime soon with the basketball program. He gave his full support for Pastner’s plan last month.“We knew this was going to be a project and so the whole idea of getting old and staying old is kind of the plan and we need to stick to the plan,” Stansbury said. “At the end of the day that is how we’ve got to do it at Georgia Tech and we are still relatively young with not a lot of depth." The core of Tech’s basketball team returns for the 2019-20 season with only two role players, AD Gueye and Brandon Alston leaving along with bench reserve Sylvester Ogbonda.
