UC-Irvine Wednesday.

This is a tough nonconference game and I'm impressed that it's here at the Convo. RPI 69 Sagarin 95. I mean, I keep double checking to confirm it's at the Convo.

Absolutely, this will be a big win if EMU can make it. I think the high ranking is a little random (unless UC-Irvine has a history I am not aware about). Just what EMU needs right now to challenge themselves.

Block just prompted me to check the sagarins. EMU is second worst in the MAC at 195!! So much for a promising year.

Good news is: MAC is the 11th conference. And not too far behind Atlantic 10. MAC has been hovering just outside the Top 10 for a few years now. But definitely the closest they’ve been since they hey day of the 90s

nobody uses the Sagarin or RPI anymore. the selection committee is using a new ranking system called the NET. UC-Irvine is #88, EMU is by far the lowest MAC team at #272. MAC ranking is #9, highest I've ever seen it.

Irvine has road wins at St Marys and Texas AM, 7 point loss to Toledo in the championship of a 3 round florida tourney. also lost big to a good utah state team. irvine is solid and experienced. not an imposing team, but you need to be on your game to beat them

We might get ran out of our own gym if we are not careful I expect a shoot out like the northeaster game.

Yeah I don't get much out of using those rankings myself, but when both rankings put the team in the top 100, it means somebody at least believes their wins are credible. EMU is going to finish better than 272 anyway.

UC Irvine is favored by 3, for what it's worth.

EMU making a comeback after a poor shooting start.

Tied at 19 with under 4 to play in the first half. We made a nice little run after being down 9.

One of the very few bright spots so far this season has been the emergence of Ty Groce. He’s playing with a lot of confidence right now, and the numbers are showing it.

Think it was on my PC only. There was a banner "we unable to play this video" (or something like that).

We are up 27–24 at the half. Playing some great defense. Getting smoked on the glass, though, and that gave UCI most of their points.

Minnie’s shot is on. Keep feeding him the pick-and-pop.

We are lucky that UC thinks traveling is a good thing. Never seen so many bad turnovers away from the basket.

Parris doesn’t do much for me. I like the few minutes that Ellison has given us so far in the 2nd half.

It’s like Murphy is begging to be fired when he plays Toure and King at the same time. What a disaster.

I can’t think of one reason why I would have Toure in the game at all. He’s not scoring, not defending, and not rebounding. Makes literally no sense to me

We deserve this loss. Murphy’s coaching and rotations have been especially awful this season, and he’s turned a top MAC team into maybe one of its worst.
