RE: SMU - Hicks to Tranfer
Overdue. He was an absolute turnover machine that nearly threw away 3 games this year. SMU had 8-4 talent, but was only a few plays from 3-9 thanks to him.

Pony will do better next year. Addition by subtraction.

If you read the report; it was basically in his best interest. Told he wasn’t guaranteed to start next year. Mutual split.

RE: SMU - Hicks to Tranfer
I thought Hicks was a pretty good qb. He at least would have been a good backup for SMU.

Hicks departs as SMU's career leader in passing yards (9,081 yards), passing touchdowns (71), total offense (8,977 yards), completions (718) and touchdowns responsive for (74), starting 33 games for the Mustangs. Hicks had his best year in 2017, passing for 3,569 yards and 33 touchdowns.

His poor performance in 2018 may have had something to do with the coaching change.

He lost his top 2 recievers to the NFL... and SMU could not run the ball at all... he was far from perfect but I thought he got better as the sason went on...

my only point is that people posting that Hicks is a pick six machine... and he sucks... are talking about SMU's all time passing leader...and SMU has had some good QB's over the years...

Hicks would have at good depth for the Mustangs next season... or been a decent starter. jmo.

So we can count on our steaks being over-cooked and our eggs not runny?

RE: SMU - Hicks to Tranfer
Texas quarterback Shane Buechele, who started 19 games for the Longhorns before losing the job to Sam Ehlinger this past season, has informed UT coaches that he wants to explore leaving for another school as a graduate transfer.

Texas has confirmed Buechele is in the NCAA transfer portal.

Buechele is scheduled to graduate from Texas in May and has two years of eligibility remaining.

Sources told ESPN that SMU is a potential landing spot for Buechele, after the Mustangs lost all-time leading passer Ben Hicks, who announced earlier this week that he's leaving for Arkansas as a graduate transfer.

Good comp % and decent TD to INT ratio. Looks like he can at least manage and with good coaching could really do well in the AAC west. Hope you guys get him.

Thanks, seems like a natural fit and if he can do as well as Garrett Gilbert did here, things will be looking up.
