Star Trek Discovery Exposé
Link (24:05 run time)

Former CBS head Les Moonves was not a scifi fan. It was rumored he didn't know the difference between Star Wars and Star Trek.

Basically he butchered the canon to try and attract younger viewers to the new CBS streaming service. He suckered Netflix into a deal that amounted them into paying the production cost.

Lots of other scathing details.

RE: Star Trek Discovery Exposé
the whole thing plays like an angry Orville fanboy...dude just sounds pissed Discovery was quickly renewed for season 2

1) CBS said from the start that they wanted multiple Trek shows out at the same time on All-Access...they're also planning an animated series. It's total BS to say they made the new Picard show because of Discovery.

2) Netflix knew exactly what they were getting into and they did pay for the entire first season.

3) this is 2018...not the 90s...toys and models should be purchased online. Moreover, Discovery is NOT a kids show.

4) dude says the fans 'rejected' Discovery? It's given All-Access the highest ratings it's ever seen...Discovery is doing exactly what it's supposed to.

meh, I'll catch season 2 when it comes out.

Season 2 Ep 1 was pretty damn solid if you ask me. I found it funny, had good character development, plenty of action, and I liked Anson Mount as Cpt. Pike

Jonathan Frakes (Riker) did an amazing job with ep2. It's a classic 'Prime Directive' story told in TNG style. It has great humor but still makes you think. I really enjoyed it.

It stars the actress who played Sasha from The Walking Dead.

Enterprise was supposed to go 7 seasons, but got canceled after the 5th season.

Star Trek:Voyager was supposed to be the next set of movies, but someone came up with the idea of rebooting with new cast members portraying the original show.

The Les Mooves despising sci-fi is accurate along with the rights issues between CBS and Paramount. You can’t just dismiss that out of hand. I tried the first season but it just never hooked me. I don’t know what story they are trying to tell.

It's true about Mooves but hey, not everyone likes SciFi and yes the rights issue is a thing but that's why using CBS All-Access solves a lot of problems. It can be done under Paramounts license, paid for by Netflix, and can grow CBS' newest platform without taking any risk. That's smart business and it brings Trek back.

I like that they have moved the focus from just Michael Burnham in Season 1 to Capt Pike, Spock, AND Burnham in Season 2. I really like Anson Mount as Pike.

she wasn't strong enough to carry the show on her own even with the help of Jason Isaacs and Michelle Yeoh IMHO.
