RE: All sports besides football
1. ACC - (would never happen)
2. Big Ten - (would never happen)
3. AAC - (would probably never happen)
4. Big East - (we are already a BE member in one sport... so I can always dream)
5. C-USA - (Of this list, the most realistic, and I like the national exposure)

I understand where you’re coming from, but we also said we’ll never be in the FBS or even receive a P5 coach/ staff in this decade. Let’s not underestimate ourselves with this be either. With the conference realignment coming in a few years, it seem like these P5’s are going to go the mega conference route. Folks saw the mishaps that occurred with the Big 12’s decision and how it could’ve diminished really bad. Then you have to include the fact that cable is going out of style and streaming is the way to go. We already saw how the o line school benefited our school and I have faith that the early streaming of games/ our own network will benefit us as well. It’s not going to be easy since these presidents and commissioners are stubborn based on their status, but changes happen all the time. This is business, and folks want the money. By God’s blessings, we have the resources and the ability to grow. I wouldn’t be surprised is JFJR and McCaw will look into it and see how we can the piece of the pie. The ACC is known for academia, so we could get in there since we are accredited just like Ivy Leage schools. The next few years are important; we will need to grow our football and basketball programs and the route that we are going can do that.

Our academics are getting better but they are nowhere near ACC level. The lowest ranking school is Louisville. They are a tier one research institute that is ranked #171. We are tier two so we have a lot of work to do there. As far as accreditations are concerned we are accredited but we do not have all of the same accreditations others have. For example, our business school is ACBSP which isn’t the top accreditation, that would be AACSB. This is the main reason I’m not getting my MBA at LU. I just feel like we look stupid when people make these arguments because we aren’t there. We are just on the way to getting there.

Your hopefulness is commendable but not realistic. VT for years was spurned by the ACC, with a very good FB program. U-Conn, Cincy and others have expressed a desire to join but no go. Lots of factors to consider in the upper echelon and of lesser importance in mid major FBS.

LUs best hope is for mega conferences to realign poaching from the best mid major schools. That in turn will create an opening. We can expect only a change at the top will create an opening for LU.

Is there really anyone that would want LU to become a Sun Belt member? Not likely.
Would LU be a better fit with C-USA with ODU? Absolutely
Any hint of any changes in the MAC? Seems quiet there, and is that an affiliation that benefits LU? Nope

LUs best chance seems at this time is to remain indy in FB and seek a higher quality conference for the other sports. The A-Sun is a better choice for LU than the BSC. And it gets back to winning. McKay has improved the quality of MBB play. If he can steal a win against a top quality team that makes an impact. Non FB membership requires LU to bring a quality to that program. At best now, LU offers little benefit to top flight conferences. With quality, unexpected wins, that perspective changes. But the olympic sports have to carry that responsibility, not the FB program.

It was common knowledge that we'd eventually be FBS and most assumed as an independent after we sued/threatened to sue to get here even though that didn't happen. I don't know who said we wouldn't have a P5 head coach seeing as Turner Gill was at Kansas prior to taking the LU job. Heck, we had a former NFL coach of the year in Sam Rutigliano.

As for Liberty, I'd like them to join the Big Ten as I think we'd do well as the southernmost school in a northern and midwestern conference, giving us a recruiting advantage. We'd add a new, contiguous state to the existing footprint while adding a state with solid recruiting. The academic prestige of the conference would hopefully improve ours, though there is likely little correlation between the two. We could provide another hockey team, which the conference could really use right now, and a solid baseball team to help the conference which needs credibility (though focuses on lacrosse during the spring).

The SEC would be my next choice. They get paid the most right now and have the largest fanbases. They aren't as good all-around as the Big Ten in my view but their spot at the top with the Big Ten is undeniable.

Those are my two dream outcomes and fully understand they are a million to one odds at best. I think our absolute best bet is to build up our program to be Big 12 worthy and hope to get an invite as a travel partner for WVU and relieve the conference of the island. Unfortunately, Cincinnati looks like a better filler for that role so we have our work cut out for us.
