Actually a promotion to OC. They are old friends from App State.

I could see CO-OC, as Frank Ponce, App State current OC came over with Satterfield pretty much immediately. And I doubt he takes a demotion.

Regardless, there are several with ties to App State and Satterfield that I think follow him here -- WR coach at Arkansas Justin Steep (I think is his name) is one being rumored heavily too. Time will tell on these folks though, and I bet most wait until after the Dec signing day. So 9-10 days more to wait that out.

ShaDon Brown, safeties coach at Colorado the past 2 seasons, who isn't being retained by the incoming coach, may be joining the Cardinal staff too.

A native of Danville Kentucky, he coached for 5 years at Wofford, under Nate Woody, who created the defense that Satterfield wants to implement at Louisville.

So ... while not official yet by any means, there seems to be some smoke around his name. And he'd also be the safeties coach here at U of L, should he make the move.

What type of Offense and Defense do you think he brings to Louisville?

Most Louisville fans haven’t seen much of App State either, we are hearing however that Satterfield runs a balanced ball controlled offense. He runs a pro-set and likes to run to set up the pass. That’s something that has been missing in Louisville since before Bobby came the first time. We are excited to have him

The defense Satterfield runs is a base 3-4 that limits big plays and tries to ball hawk. Sounds a lot that Grantham ran at UofL and now runs at Florida.

Jim answered already, but to add on a little bit.

Satterfield has said he's running the 3-4 that he has at App State the past few years. Nate Woody now at Ga Tech put that in there too. And it sounds like Satterfield is 100% set on this.

Interestingly, offensively, he seems more flexible. Fitting the talent on hand to what he is going to run. But Jim is right about what he said. CSS like the TE's, and U of L has exactly 1 guy left on the roster at TE. Perfect. But I think we'll see more of that, at least for next year, this spring.

An interesting note, BVG has taken a job at Bowling Green as a linebacker coach.

Cardinal Authority has confirmed that Satterfield will soon announce Bryan Brown as his defensive coordinator and Frank Ponce as quarterbacks coach. Both have been in Louisville since the weekend and come from Satterfield's staff at Appalachian State.

Former Danville High School star ShaDon Brown, who has spent the past two seasons at Colorado, is expected to join the staff on the defensive side of the ball. ShaDon Brown was the safeties coach and the defensive passing game coordinator last season with the Buffaloes.


Cardinal Authority has also confirmed that Dwayne Ledford will be named offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. His announcement won't come until later this week.

Cardinal Authority also expects Appalachian State strength coach Mike Sirignano to come to Louisville with Satterfield. Sirignano served as the South Carolina assistant director of football strength and conditioning from 2012-14 before taking over at Appalachian State.

Pardon the pun, but I feel like NC State just punted on football. They promoted two assistants to co-offensive coordinators to replace Drinkwitz. I'm sure they both deserve a shot at OC, I just feel like we missed an opportunity to bring in someone with OC experience. Someone that could bring some life to the offense.

Louisville football has added two more coaches to Scott Satterfield's staff, naming Dwayne Ledford its offensive coordinator and offensive line coach and Stu Holt its tight ends coach and special teams coordinator.

Phil Longo is a good choice to get rolling right away because he doesn’t have a complex playbook. Take a look at FSU this past season, they appeared lost on offense.
