BTW TAMU-Commerce needs a new coach because Colby Carthel was just named the new coach at SFA. Carthel and the Lions won the 2017 D2 NCAA title.

At this point in Bailiff’s career, he wants to go somewhere where he can compete for national championships... The level doesn’t particularly matter.

I just think he wants to be back into coaching. He never struck me as the "compete for national championships" kind.

Bailiff and Mensa are close enough that I imagine Mensa probably offered him the kind of role he gave Beaty. But I think David wants to be on the field. I don't know whether Beaty is at UT for a while or moving on. If David could pay him enough, his Metroplex recruiting connections could come in handy in Commerce.

GoodOwl, I’m not going to quote your post in the hope you’ll delete it. It’s unfair and unkind and does not refllect well on you or this board. Many of us weren’t happy with his record but Coach Bailiff did nothing to earn our scorn.

Sounds like a good fit - I wish him well. I wondered if he would go the D1 coordinator route, but that's a tough transition to go from leadership to support after so many years as head coach.
