Any idea why Matt has barely played in the 2nd half? He led the team in scoring in the first, but I don't think he's been on the floor at all in the 2nd.

So they put LJ on marrow and we get the stop.

But miss the free throws.

Why in the world are we giving it to Milon to break the press there ... his handle is far less than great?

Not the prettiest, but really important win for the team's confidence.

Good road win. Finally our freshmen can know what it feels like. Good for momentum into the exam break too.

That’s called leadership on the floor.

Hampton played well. Marrow is a good player and when we finally stopped him that was the end of the scoring for Hampton. I'm afraid that Milon is a step slow on defense and isn't creating his own shots. Owens had a nice second half absent the 0-2 from the line at the end. We still don't have a point guard.

My guess is Shaver was expecting Hampton to foul immediately and Milon is our best FT shooter, so we ran an inbounds play to get Milon the ball. When they didn't foul Milon, he had to try and bring the ball up against pressure.

Agree 100%. The error was on the rest of the team which ran up court leaving Milon triple-teamed with no outlet.

RE: Hampton Game Looms Large
It was pretty neat to buy two general admission tickets for $15 and then get to sit right behind the Tribe bench when I am used to sitting behind the other team’s bench. Man dId we need that win. I thought that subbing in Milon at the end was a good move but I have got to admit that I was surprised that Loewe came out instead of Owens. There was no way that Hampton was going to foul us in the back court with that much time left and it left us without a point guard to handle the back court pressure.Got to figure that Tony wanted Owens in the game for his defense.

Our defense was really solid down the stretch. We have had quite a hard time winning at Hampton in the past so this is a really nice victory for our guys.

The Hampton band blared for the entirety of the stoppage at the end. Why it took them what seemed like an eternity to concede that the 30 second clocks were toast is beyond me.

Big picture- first Tribe win at Hampton after losing last four times at Hampton.

Say what you want- UIC and Mason games are difference between current 3-7 record and 5-5 start.

Your record says what you are.

Going forward, how many more UIC and Mason games are in this team's future, or do they win these games going forward?

I have had root canals that were less painful than tonight’s game. The shot clock thing was ridiculous. Huge road win going into exam break. Hopefully the team rests up and get healthy heading into William Peace next Sunday.

RE: Hampton Game Looms Large
I am feeling pretty upbeat about this result. We have not been a program that can expect to win at Hampton so winning there is still kinda a big deal. Whether it was their offensive deficiencies or our defense we held them to 10 points in the last 10 minutes.

And it was a game we won without shooting terribly well. We have not yet this torn off a streak of 3s this year to put the dagger in the opposing team but I still feel we might develop into a team that can do so. Owens was very effective as our 3rd scoring option in the second half tonight.

Exam time with this many freshmen is critical and, from a basketball perspective, it will hopefully allow us to get healthier.

The rotation is still definitely in flux (much more Loewe and Rowley, less Scott and Audige tonight) and I think we are 4 weeks or so away from getting that a little more defined.

And it's easier to go into this stretch between now and 12/28 off a victory.
