conference title repeats
Lot of reruns in conference titles this year.

ACC, Big 12, Big 10, American and Sun Belt all had repeat winners.
SEC and Pac 12 had their 2016 champs return to the throne.
MWC had a 2013 champ return to the throne who happens to be one of only four current members to ever win an MWC title (and one of those 4 was back in 2002).

MAC and CUSA were different. MAC titles continue to be pretty spread out. <edit> NIU won for the first time since 2014. 8 of the 12 teams have won since 2005. In CUSA, UAB won their first conference title ever.

Buffalo lost.

Yeah, the MAC was not so different that it decided to crown the loser of the championship game.

It was still a little bit different, since it was four years since the last NIU championship (even if NIU has been 4/10 over the past ten years).

Updated. Forgot they lost it in the 4th quarter.

CUSA titles were pretty spread out, its just that most of the winners are now in the AAC. Tulane, Tulsa, ECU, UCF and Houston, along with Louisville and TCU won titles in that era.

Same with the MAC. The MAC was Marshall until they moved to CUSA.

Interesting statistic is that the MWC has only had 7 champions and all are multiple champions:

4x - BYU, TCU, Utah
3x - Boise St, Colorado St, Fresno St, San Diego St

No bizarre one-off seasons by a school to win a championship

NIU has now played everyone in the East division in the conference championship game, since 2005.

That's an interesting stat. It also shows how balanced the MAC has become. 2 or 3 consistent schools and everybody else rising at some point.
