RE: Next up N. Brown at Troy
If Brown is able to win 10+ games next year and with our schedule that could easily be optainable, he will have P5 knocking his door down next year. Especially if he’s able to beat Missouri.

I feel like a lot more and better P5 jobs will open up next year.

Do you think Neal Brown would leave Troy with everything he has built up over the last 4 seasons to coach at Kansas State? Personally, I don't think it would have been worth his move. Doesn't seem like the type of coach that is just going to jump ship and say see ya later to coach at "any" P5 school just because its a P5 school. Just my thoughts. Whats everyone else think? Seems more selective. I don't think he would have taken the job if even offered to him.

Oh please don't go all App State on us and pretend your coach wouldn't jump for a P5 job if it came open.

Now...Kansas State, without being able to hire his own staff? Different question. But if he was given full control of the program, he's gone.

Yes. I would imagine if Kansas State was offering a head coach a clean slate to work with, his own staff, ample money for assistant salaries, and a guarantee that Bill Snyder wasn't going to keep his thumb on the football program... Neal Brown or Seth Littrell would be in Manhattan right now.

Chief I am a big NB fan but you hit the nail on the head. K-State just can’t part with Coach Snyder’s control he means EVERYTHING to them.

What, Satterfield goes from +/- $725K to $3.25M plus bonuses x 6 years? Please, any coach in any G5 school would jump at that offer. That's multi-generational life-changing money.

You are absolutely correct and this is the one exception. Kind of like you meet a divorcée and you guys date and you fall in love and there is no way you don’t jump at the chance to begin your life with her. So you propose and all is well and she answers you as follows: “Oh dear of course I will a thousand million times over and my ex and I will move in right after the ceremony because we have a deal that I still sleep with him. Let’s get a California King it will hold all of us”........Yes this is the one Some guys would skip because there are going to be others. Not many would sign up for that scenario no matter how “SWEET” the deal!

The head coach cautioned everyone about his name being linked to coaching searches.

“I think the thing with this is the communication has changed so much,” Brown said. “Whether it’s something on Twitter or any social media platform, anybody can be an expert. So what I would caution people in general – and I’ve got to deal with it in my own family – is just because something’s on Twitter or any social media platform doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the truth.

“There are some things out there that were completely false. There are some things out there that were partially true. But at the end of the day, it’s going to take a great opportunity (for me to leave).”

The coach didn’t sound like he was in a hurry to leave Troy.

“I think it’s important for people to know, too, it’s not just my decision. I’ve got three kids and a wife and they’re all extremely happy here,” Brown said. “We’ve got a great situation football-wise here. So, when people call you listen. … But just because you listen, that’s not necessarily something that you’re willing to do. I would just caution people … I wouldn’t believe everything you read online.”

Seems I had a fair point going by what the dothaneagle wrote up from his conference the other day, and listening to coach brown. The job has to make sense, as I stated and some of you have as well. He has a good gig at Troy, and like he mentioned - there are others, such as family involved in the decision making as well. There a saying "Happy Wife, Happy Life." I'm sure we all go by that rule of thumb to an extent. Lol.

That being said, I know there are multiple factors that can drive someones decision-making. Some coach for the love of the game, where making $800k or making $3.5 mil makes no difference to them, and other will jump ship as soon as a big number is thrown at them or a P5 team comes calling. We all have different motives and things that drive us. We can never be so certain which way a person may sway, but he proves a good point in the conference when discussing the situation. Thought it was an interesting topic. Good to hear everyones thoughts.
