Coaching Carousel
Normally by now an SEC coach would have been fired or taken a job at a "better" school. It seems like this year the SEC head coaches are staying put. But there is some movement at the coordinator level so I thought I'd go ahead and make a thread.

TN: Tyson Helton (OC) to WKU (HC)

Rumored replacements: Hugh Freeze, Freddy Kitchens (currently OC with the Browns), and as always, I'd throw in Manning as an option however unlikely.

I saw somewhere this morning that Jim McElwain was a candidate. Pruitt and he do have history working at Alabama together.

I'm pretty sure Freeze's next job will need to be outside of the SEC. I look for him to take the OC job at Kansas.

I think he could do that and then there's something about that Texas Tech opening that I think might appeal to him.

I'm not sure there's interest there from either party, but it makes sense to me.

The way I see Freeze's situation is that nobody wants to hire him as a head coach right away. There would be too much NCAA scrutiny. I agree that he would sort of be a natural fit at TTU, but under Les who is respected, and old, the likelihood that Freeze might one day inherit the head job at Kansas is more likely, and with Snyder's retirement seemingly likely, the Kansas job would be the better one.

But we'll see. I just believe that the NCAA would see the Kansas job under the respected Les Miles to be less of a concern.

If they are following the "opposite of the last guy" approach, it makes a lot of sense.

Venables has been in the news expressing discontent over Clemson's defensive performance vs South Carolina. While Clemson comfortably won the game score-wise, USC gained over 500 passing yards on Clemson.
If Clemson gets past Pitt in the ACC championship game, they likely will play Notre Dame in the playoff semi-final.

New expansion candidate? Or too far gone politically speaking? (Mostly in jest, but...)

Who knows. With an SEC coaching staff, some wins and an endowment twice that of Auburn? 04-cheers
