The comment about getting him back for conference play seems about right. It might be much, much worse.

This team has got to figure out the turnover problem and do it in a hurry. There are few teams W&M will beat committing 20 turnovers against them...

Mr. Ribe just noted that our turnover rate was 26.7% for the game. OUCH

Right now, other than Pierce's injury, I'm more worried about the inability to get the ball to Knight on the blocks or even at the FT line. We need to be able to work our offense inside out with Knight being the first option.

Starting to get the feeling this season is going to be a very frustrating injury-filled dumpster fire. TWENTY turnovers and only 60 percent from the line is...not good.

Higher turnover rate than 3pt %. Not a recipe for winning

Okay, we stunk! Time to move on to prepare for a very winnable home game against George Mason. Hopefully Justin's injury is no worse than before (miss 2-3 games).

Crazy how the 2nd half of last game felt like a turning point in the season. And today feels the same. But completely different directions. Pierce's injury did not look good. Our team could not do anything on offense when Marshall changed up their D. Knight finishes with 6 turnovers and only 8 points. <25% from 3. Our freshmen all struggled. Yikes, yikes, yikes. Let's see what Tony can pull out of his hat after this one. Particularly rooting for Pierce - fingers crossed it's not serious.

It's the same injury. That's the bad part.

Think we will see more Blair and Rowley playing due to Peirce injury and the freshmen need Knight and Milon to step up and be consistent. Disappointing game so throw away the tapes and move on to GMU.

Pierce needs to sit out until after the exams IMO

I thought he was icing his knee the entire 2nd half. Wasn't the original injury an ankle? I could be wrong on either or both fronts, but I thought this was a new injury. Either way, hope he's okay and able to hop at his normal level soon.

They never said (and I'm no doctor), but the first injury looked like a knee when it happened. Tony confirmed it during the post game interview--same knee injury as before.

RE: MBB - Game 7 - Marshall
W&M shot 23.8% from 3. From 2013-14 season to present when they shoot under 30% from 3 they're 4-20 (.167 winning percentage). They're 26-31 (.456) when they shoot between 31 and 40%. When they shoot 41% or better from 3 they're 61-14 (.813). "Team wins when they make lots of 3s" is hardly groundbreaking, but this team just isn't able to overcome a night when the long range shots aren't falling.

I know we play high octane offense and it helps in recruiting, but I'd sure like to see some defense! We play defense like it's an NBA all-star game.

Actually, as I mentioned, in game, they went for over 5:00 and change holding Marshall scoreless for 9 straight possessions, that was good D, but they were unable to cut off but 3 points off the lead (a deuce and -of course- 1 of 2 from the line).

While the defense still needs a lot of work, you can see some improvement, but this team does not (yet) have as many scorers, with ice water in their veins as last year's team. That team would have hit 5 or 6 threes in that drought by Marshall. This team hasn't got the firepower, yet, and still makes way too many unforced turnovers to be able to recover from a big deficit every night...and I'm not sure where the bad free throw shooting is coming from. Follow Nate's example and work at it.

Again, as we all know, this is going to be a frustrating and/or enjoyable season, depending on how quickly things fall into place and the light goes on in all those young minds. (Unfortunately, last night was one of those very frustrating nights to be a fan.)

Only ODU, Hampton and UVA left regarding chances at a first road win. Would hate to go into CAA play with this team not accomplishing that yet.

Two of the three are potentially winnable, especially Hampton.
The Pirates have a couple good players, but they have struggles. They didn't play well at all, against Richmond, which just shows how bad UR is this season.

RE: MBB - Game 7 - Marshall
Last night was a good example of there the rotations never got in sync. Milon looked out of the offense much of the time, trying to insert himself. The freshmen seem to just run the offense without forcing things. I'd love to see some wins too, but really need to establish the rotation.

Paul had a really strong game yesterday. I'd like to see him in the lineup for 25 minutes a game or more every game.
