Wouldn't be surprised if this was the deal cut with the OSU Board of Trustees earlier this year, after Meyer's involvement in and knowledge of the domestic violence incident was revealed.

Look for him to wind up at Southern Cal after the new President is named and he selects a new AD in time for the 2020 season.

Of the assistant coaches, I'd focus on making sure we keep DC Brian Smith. Defense improved, at least there seemed to be a lot less wide open WR's, and we had some good games as the season progressed. Prior to Rice he coached the #1 ranked secondary at Michigan, and as an assistant in NFL before that. He's not from Texas, but may have potential as a HC in a couple of years.

Charlotte names 33-year-old Will Healy its new head coach. Healy turned around a pretty sad Austin Peay program.

Meyer's got some pretty serious health issues. I think he needs to get those sorted before taking another coaching job.

...and very quickly. Good hire for them. Austin Peay was dismal when he arrived.

I get the feeling Meyer resurfaces at a place like Louisville. They hired a snake like Petrino TWICE. Couple that with the Adidas scandal and Pitino getting the boot, it seems like the perfect landing spot for an enabled lack of institutional control.
They simply give zero *****. Although Baylor is a perfectly viable second option too.
Edit - I forgot about Papa John too. It's a match made in heaven.

Yeah, they're so serious they didn't stop him from coaching a single game this season and he's going to go ahead and keep on coaching all the way through their bowl game. No, what he has are ethical issues, and a need to lay low and live off his millions until the heat blows over -- just like he did when leaving Florida (where he also ran the sympathy play of suffering health and family issues caused by coaching, only to jump right back in at the first opportunity).

Great recruiter (brought lots of DMV talent to Illinois under Zook), disaster as a leader and head coach: literally, had the same number of assault incidents against subordinates as games won -- 2 -- in 2+ years. The number of retreads being hired by schools this cycle is astounding.

^ yep.
30 player arrests in 5 years while at Florida. And that's the number that didn't get suppressed, ignored, paid off etc.
Urban Meyer would do a great job following in the fine footsteps of the Baylor coaching stalwarts such as Bliss and Briles.

I thought he left Florida because his wife found out about him and a student...
The health issue thing is complete BS. He’ll be back coaching shortly.

I hope it works out for Maryland, but that is a shocking hire.

He supposedly has some sort of cyst in or near his brain. If that is truly the case, then the health issue is real.

from my sources he is as strong a leader and as capable as many of the best guys around. I don't know him personally nor do I have any first hand knowledge.

The Packers will definitely contact Pat Fitzgerald - their GM used to be Northwestern's AD and was the one who hired Fitzgerald, and the Packers have 4 Northwestern alums on their 53-man roster currently. Fitzgerald grew up and still is 100% a Bears fan (family still has season tickets), but even if that doesn't play into his thinking, I still can't see him leaving a job where he already makes (purportedly) $4M and can have it for as long as he wants. Plus he seems like the epitome of a rah-rah college coach whose style would flop in the pros, and he's probably also a bit spoiled by always having an entire roster of players who meet more than the minimum NCAA academic standards.
