Troy’s Neal Brown appears to be the leading candidyat West Virginia from what I’ve seen. No idea who Troy would potentially target though.
In other news, Pat Fitzgerald committed to staying at Northwestern following their bowl win. His name had been mentioned in several NFL possibilities, most notably Green Bay.
Lincoln Riley also appears to be staying at OU, not going to NFL.
However, Fitzgerald seems to have put that possibly to bed following his team’s Holiday Bowl victory over Utah on Monday night.
“Hashtag Go Cats, man. I’m not going anywhere. This is home forever,” Fitzgerald said.
Home forever......
Until the Packers show up with a check for $6-7 million per then it will change from #GoCats to Go Pack.

Neil Brown will be a step up for West Virginia. I can't understand why no P5 has hired him yet. If Houston was smart, they would have just hired Brown and saved a ton of money.
While I applaud Houston's ambition and commitment to being a big time program. I believe this money is not well spent. Holgorsen isn't worth $20 million.

Only time will tell—but Herman did very well at Houston. As I fully expected—he’s doing very well at Texas. Interestingly, one of Herman’s few loses this year was to Dana’s WVU team. I think Dana, back in his old Texas recruiting grounds is going to do quite well. SI has a significantly more positive view of the hire.

RE: FBS Coaching Carousel (UPD: CLOSED)
One other thing that I wasnt aware of until today. Its not just the head coaching hire where Houston is stepping up--they are also significantly bumping up the assistant coach pool. When Herman came to Houston in 2015, UH pledged to up the assistant pool available to Herman to over $2 million. That was a solid leap up from what the previous coach (Tony Levine) had. Apparently, Dana will get an assistant pool thats MORE THAN DOUBLE Herman's 2015 pool. That Herman staff was a very experience group and is largely the same staff that has helped Herman lead the turnaround at UT.
With that improved budget for his staff, Dana will be able to surround himself with a very solid, very salty group of assistant coaches. That is not an insignificant factor in a coaches chances of success. In fact, I almost wonder if Major would still be the Houston HC if he had been given that kind of budget with which to construct his staff.

That's a good hire for them. It was only a matter of time before a P5 school grabbed him.

After NIU fans complain so hard against him it's only fitting.

Schiano to Temple would be great for the program. He has great NJ and Florida recruiting contacts. Probably established some rustbelt and Midwest ties too in three years at Ohio State.

SOURCES: The Arizona Cardinals have interest in #TexasState head coach Jake Spavital for the offensive coordinator job under Kliff Kingsbury. (They coached together at Houston.)
