CAA Basketball Coaches Rank the Best Jobs in the Conference

2. UNCW (68) – The Seahawks have made six NCAA tournament appearances. Jerry Wainwright took them in 2000 and 2002, Brad Brownell in 2003 and 2006 and Kevin Keatts in 2016 and 2017. But not every coach has had high-level success. Kevin Eastman failed to go in four seasons from 1990-1994, Benny Moss was 41-74 in a four-year span from 2006 to 2010 and Buzz Peterson was 42-80 in his four-year tenure from 2010 to 2014.

Where they win: “Location. Great place to live, great community – and terrific atmosphere.” – CAA head coach

The knock: “Facilities are good, but there are better in the league. The same can be said for the recruiting base. It’s solid, but not in the top three or four of the league.” – CAA assistant coach

C of C and UNCW at the top doesn't surprise me. UNCW has the best tradition and fans and C of C is right up there too. It's a freaking shame that UNCW seems to fall way back after a nice run while others seem to keep trucking on a bit better. I really hope that we can get this back to where it belongs! This proves why there SHOULD be expectations!

Can't say i disagree but interesting about recruiting base. I'd think we are up there higher for that

UNCW is higher Hoops, but they are basing it on locations to major cities and things like that. If you have the right coach here, you will get good players. Keatts was a good recruiter and so is CB. Once he gets them playing defense like last night in the 2nd half, it's going to be a lot more fun.

There are a lot of good academic schools in the CAA and UNCW is also one of them so I'm not sure about this. When this league had ECTC, Mason and ODU, UNCW seemed like Harvard. If UNCW is easier to get players in than C of C, that is shocking. Look at the thugs that they've had over the years and still have. If UNCW had Brantley, I'd pull against them and that little guard talks big trash too. And, that's a shame because the students are as nice as they can be and it is right at the academic level of UNCW.

Let’s not get too over pompous here. In slightly recent memory we had Chad Tomko. While I was disgusted watching his behavior on the court, I never wavered in my support for UNCW.

RE: CAA Basketball Coaches Rank the Best Jobs in the Conference
Charleston's trip to the NCAA Tournament last season was their first since 1999. Their win in the NCAA Tournament was in 1997.

UNCW's and Charleston's histories are similar, but UNCW's success is more recent, which should be a plus.

The ranking of the schools' academics is a mystery. Duke is a great school and impossible for mere mortals to gain acceptance to, but it will take a McDonald's All American who scores the NCAA minimums.

The CAA is a very good conference academically.
