The EMU "bed wetters" are all worried we won't make the cut...

CBS has ALL 7 MAC bowl eligibles going.

That’d be great. Although I don’t understand the math of it all. I mean, two Dallas-area bowls are going to offer midwest Miami and WMU over a few more southern-based 6-6/7-5 teams?

Would like to see this all happen, but I’m skeptical.

Shoot, last year we were on the road at #4 USC and were down 4 with 3 minutes left in the game. Didn’t mean a hill of beans when bowl season came. Although we ended 6-6, not 7-5.

Last year wasn't a good year to be a G5 6 win team.

What makes you say that if the BIG has no playoff team?

OSU
NW
MICH
MSU
PSU
IOWA
WISC
PUR
MINN

B1G has 9 teams eligible for 9 bowl slots.

However they are projecting to send 3 to a NYD bowl (OSU, Michigan and Penn St). That leaves them with 2 openings in the bowl lineup hence Quick Lane.

I see one of WMU/EMU/Toledo filling in Detroit unless a trade is made.

If Ohio State beats NW and doesn't get in the playoff... (Possible if Oklahoma wins) The NYD BIG teams will be Ohio State and Michigan. That's it. MSU, NW, PSU are not going to get an at large with the amt of SEC teams ranked (LSU, TAMU, MISS STATE, Florida, GEORGIA)

Tie ins.
1. Rose bowl for BIG Champ Ohio State
2. Peach Bowl (at large bowl) Michigan

3. Citrus bowl for say NW
4. Outback for say MSU
5. Holiday bowl for say PSU
6. Music City/ gator bowl in a rotation but not both for say Iowa
7. Pinstripe bowl for say Wisconsin
8. Redbox bowl for say Purdue
9. Quicklane bowl for say Minnesota
10. First responder bowl left Vacant... This game is not regional and vs a CUSA Team. Quicklane will not be vacant before this.

I watched the Penn State game and they are pretty confident they'll be NYD at 9-3.

Its the "little guy" who doesn't find the spot. WVU, Miss St, Syracuse they get left outside to play in an increasingly not relevant non-NY6 game.

RE: tOfficial Bowl Speculation/Announcement Thread
Where this is heading IMO.

Mobile (Buffalo or NIU)
Camelia (Buffalo or NIU)
Bahamas (Toledo)
Frisco (Ohio)
Boise (EMU)
Quick Lane (WMU)
Cure (Miami?)

The big question to me is Boise. I'm leaning toward EMU there for a couple of factors.

1) EMU has played out west on national TV quite a lot and performed well against the MWC.

2) EMU has never played in Boise while NIU/Buffalo/Ohio/WMU all have before.

3) With Boise playing their final regular season game at home and then a conference champ a week later they'll be shipped out. Utah St will likely also ship out leaving a 7-5 team to rep the MWC in the Potato.

Talk about payouts all you want, but all bowls are equally irrelevant.

If your thinking of in terms of championships, then you're right. But most reasonable people think of it as fun 13th game that the team needs to earn. Also a chance to be on national TV and a get more practice time.

RE: tOfficial Bowl Speculation/Announcement Thread
Thing with the Quick Lane Bowl opening up -- need the ACC or B10 to have a free spot. This will guarantee WMU making it. What's the story now?

ACC:
- 10 Sure Bowls outside the Playoff bowls. Does not include the Citrus as they get in if they have higher than B10 or SEC, which doesn't seem to be the case.
- 9, potentially 10 teams oustide Clemson who are bowl eligible if VA-Tech wins.
- TaxSlayer Bowl, the ACC could go to possibly. But CFN says it's almost a certainty that the B10 will go to this one. If not tho, this would free up a spot in the Quick Lane Bowl if VA-Tech beats Marshall.

B10:
- 9 Sure Bowls outside the Playoff bowls. Includes the Citrus to play SEC, as the ACC outside Clemson is lower.
- 9 bowl-eligible teams. BUT, if Ohio State DOES make it to the Playoff, this will free up the Quick Lane Bowl.

The Quick Lane bowl will surely open things up for the MAC to get 5 in.

Also, the Cure Bowl -- picking a MAC team in there since is a possibility since the AAC will be lacking a team, since UCF will be going to the NY6, assuming they beat Memphis.

In the end, certain things could line up where 7-5 WMU has a good chance not to go (above pecking order of 7-5 EMU):
- UCF loses; Boise State goes to NY6; slot opens for 6-6 Wyoming instead, 1 less free AAC slot; WMU replaces Wyoming as the snubbed party

81 teams bowl eligible; 82 if VA-Tech beats Marshall which is likely. Projections on Who's Left Out:

Collegefootballnews.com (Ohio State making it to Top 4):
- Eastern Michigan, Miami-OH, Wyoming, and LA-Monroe.

CBS (Ohio State making it to Top 4):
- BYU, Army, Wyoming, and Louisiana (7-5 & tied for #1 spot in SunB division; but instead including LA-Monroe @6-6 below them)
*This is wrong - lol

Bleacher Report (Oklahoma making it to Top 4):
- Miami-OH, Wyoming, LA-Monroe, and Virginia Tech

Athlon Sports (Ohio State making it to Top 4):
- Miami-OH, Wyoming, LA-Monroe, and Wake Forest
*Selecting EMU over Wake Forest?

SB Nation (Ohio State making it to Top 4):
- Eastern Michigan, Miami-OH, Wyoming, and Virginia Tech

Sports Illustrated (Oklahoma making it to Top 4):
- Miami-OH, Wyoming, LA-Monroe, and Virginia Tech

Orlando Sentinel (Oklahoma making it to Top 4):
- Miami-OH, Wyoming, LA-Monroe, and Virginia Tech

NBC Sports (Oklahoma making it to Top 4):
- Eastern Michigan, Miami-OH, LA-Monroe, and Southern Miss

------------------

In a nutshell, it seems that if Virginia Tech wins, EMU's out. EMU fans should be wearing Marshall shirts next week. :)

A 6-6 team from the ACC is really going to pack them in at Ford Field. That's a bad contract.

EMU deserves a bowl at 7-5 with win over Purdue who is bowling.
Seeing likely 9 Big10 teams bowling and 2 of them that had losses to the MAC is ridiculous. The system is so flawed in many ways.
Get rid of the 5-7 and 6-6 bowls. Reward winners!

I have no trouble with 7 - 5 G5 and 6 - 6 P5.

That said, I'm hoping that a team, maybe a 6 - 6 P5 will turn down post season.

It usually happens when a team has 'problems' like injuries, fired or quit coach, or scandal, etc.

I don't know a team which meets that criteria.

If the last spot comes down to either WMU and EMU, the bowl will decide between (a) who will bring more fans, and (b) who's a bit more marketable for TV viewing. You have WMU's better recent history of success and larger fan base, but some may consider EMU to be "hungrier" after so many years of futility. In the end, if you're talking about some minor bowl in Alabama or Texas or Idaho, it's probably close to a wash. Neither team is going to move the needle that much.

WMU beating EMU on the field, EMU's win over Purdue, WMU's win over NIU, EMU's close losses... Fair or not, those things are irrelevant.

i'd think it would be between EMU and miami. i think WMU has a better than decent shot at getting a bowl, especially given your win over NIU and your name recognition from what you did two years ago.
