Freshman pitcher, Zach Tsakounis hurled four and a third innings of shutout relief pitching to get the win, fanning two, walking nobody and allowing just two hits.

Great start for this team.

Would have liked 4-0 even better -- except for the rainout. Always good to build some confidence by beating up on these weak northern programs early in the year. Frustrating losing games due to the weather.

I'm happy we swept a bad Marist team, but we are hitting .184 as a team. We play against another weak opponent for a series this week, then UVA, and then High Point for another series. If we're still hitting around .200 then it's time to worry. Hopefully the bats wake up against Sacred Heart.

Marist was 27-23 last year, returned a lot of their squad, and missed out on the top spot in the 2019 MAAC Preseason Poll by only 2 points. Never know how a season will transpire, but I would characterize Marist as a very good opening for a Tribe team that had lost 16 straight.

Marist's conference is horrible compared to the CAA. Last year the CAA was ranked 13th and the MAAC was ranked 28th (fourth to last). D1 baseball is weird. The best conferences are miles ahead of the worst ones. The end of the bench players at an SEC school starts and are the best players on a team like Marist. I watched a lot of the three games and Marist is not good. In our series they had nine errors, five wild pitches, and hit two batters. Let's see how we're doing after about 15 games. That usually gives you a real good idea of the team's ability against a variety of oppoents.

It's always good to sweep the first series, even if it's the Mariners.

Hey, quibblers...what's with the negative postings raining on our opening three wins?

When you've lost 16 in a row coming off last year why not feel good about starting off with a three game sweep?

I don't care if the sweep was against Toano Middle School. It's lots better than, as last year, losing them!

No one has been negative. I think the point is, Bubba, that we not put too much stock in wins over Marist. Yes, it beats starting 0-3 vs Clemson but sweeping Marist and being swept by Clemson doesn't give us an indication of the team's potential. We will know more after we play teams like VCU, ODU, and Campbell.

I don't want play, much less sweep, Toano Middle School - home of the Mighty Tigers.

Good thing I refrained from printing out the perfect season t shirts.

Hope we bounce back in games 2 and 3, but it's rainy enough In not sure they'll happen.

Team batting average down to .179. It's raining and I assume that both games are rained out. Next up UVA and down to hopefully warmer weather at High Point (birth place of Tony Shaver).

T town is a start. Given a choice I’d rather be in Omaha with the Tribe ballers. At C’ville this week will provide some early season clarification. My local team UCI swept the Rice Owls in H town this weekend.

Curious why they only did 1 game, this morning the schedule was for a double header.

Also, Marist swept Presbyterian this weekend, and while Presbyterian isn't anything special, they did get a win over Alabama earlier in the year
