There are legit middle school stadiums in Texas that are bigger than half the caa schools ! I watched the ucf vs cinci game and I want that to be us one day .. ABC 8pm packed completed bridgeforth .. that needs to be our goal !!
[/quote]

This! Forget the playoffs esp if we get screwed like this year. 10x more exposure in that ABC primetime game than an 11am National Championship game in a MLS stadium.

Same old argument I guess. I just hope our recent success is pushing us further in this direction and not making everyone comfortable being the big fish.

Yep. This. I wonder if the people wanting to be UCF on ABC show up to each home game and make sure everyone in their group is there at least 15 minutes before kickoff and don't leave until the game is over?

JMU fans need a culture shift from casuals who only show up to the tailgate if we want to be taken more seriously. Even at NDSU and Montana, they draw our crowds but people don't struggle to actually stay engaged when they're in the stadium.

That's why knowledgeable fans on message boards know to redo the math themselves and exclude playoff games for the real apples to apples numbers.

RE: 2018 Attendance
Well, our attendance numbers are sure to get totally screwed up as a result of this Saturday's game, what with the students out and the weather looking lousy. Not that it will keep me away, of course. Attendance was looking solid, notwithstanding the Thursday night game against Robert Morris.

Haven't missed a home game this year. Am in my seat to see the band run onto the field. And I didn't leave early once. And I have a 5 yr old and 2 yr old. Get some!

It's also b/c we beat the pants off of NEC schools in our OOC games. So the freshman students that come in, first 2-3 home games, its 50-0 at half. That sets the precedent right there. It becomes a habit b/c why stay if we're going to win anyway. You and I know the crowd noise makes a different in games later in the season...and could help influence the outcomes.

You want to live in Missoula (I would) or Fargo?! Not knocking those places, but come on, it's pretty clear the social opportunities are more limited than in the places the plurality of JMU fans live. More importantly, if having everyone in the stadium be rabid for 4 hours means our fanbase has to be the mutant-male-dominated-Dickey's-jeans-white-knockoff-tennis-shoe-and-white-socks-Starter-jacket-way-too-excited-about-Tight- Ends-crowd we met last year, no thank you. Call me an coastal elite all you want, but I love that for HUGE portions of our fanbase, JMU means a lot more than just football.

Yeah, I guess it's nice to have fantasies. I want to win $100 million in Power Ball....Let's Go Me!!!!

But realistically, the move up would lead to years and years of mediocre to bad football at best...kind of like ODU or Georgia State. Even though I'm not a college football fan, I'll admit that I'm envious of what JMU has right now with football. Why would you all want to throw it all away for that very minuscule shot at the big time?

GSU has always been bad, but ODU got very competitive pretty quickly, then plateaued. ODU had the advantage being located in a recruiting hotbed for college football.

RE: 2018 Attendance
A little off topic, but FWIW...

...for the first time, I just observed a box score (by the University of Arkansas MBB) that displayed "Attendance" and then "Tickets Scanned".

I think this is a great idea. Kudos to the Hogs for doing this (and any others). Hope this becomes the norm.

I'm guessing some CFB programs barely meeting the minimum "attendance" standards will be reluctant to display "tickets scanned". Of course, unfortunately in my opinion, the definition of "attendance" has been grossly skewed to indicate the number of tickets accounted for instead of hind parts through turnstiles.

6200 tickets were "sold" in some capacity but went unused? That seems like a lot.

JMU does NOT want to do that. We are already breaking worst attendance records with coach Rowe at the helm and that is counting all of the no shows.
It is already very hard to justify an 8500 seat arena. Imagine trying to continue fundraising with actual ticket scan data.

Hey John Doe, you saw that only 984 tickets were scanned at that riveting home Overtime win over struggling Coppin State. How about chipping in $10k or $20k so we can build this new 8,500 seat arena correctly. Thanks for your support. 04-cheers

Ga Southern and App State did great right out of the gate. Personally, I believe we are better than or at least equal to either of those teams. ODU was good but has fallen off. They will be back.

If I thought we were headed for mediocrity in FBS, I wouldn't want to go. I believe we will be at or near the top of any conference we join. The sky is the limit from there.
