Rice won the regular season and was looking good for an at-large NCAA bid even if they didn't win the conference tournament, but then they lost the final two regular season matches at FAU and FIU. Oh well, we'll just try to win the conference tournament and get the auto bid.

So Rice was the only top seed to win today (although UNT was in a 4-way tie for 2nd in the regular season).

It does look likely now that the league will get just 1 NCAA bid.

Funny how FIU and Rice seem to meet up in tennis and swimming and now adding volleyball to the mix. Good luck to the ladies, first time in a few years since we’ve been in the tourney at all.

Rice sweeps FIU 3-0 to win the tournament. FIU was pretty good for a 6 seed I've got to say. Hopefully the Owls can win an NCAA tournament game for the first time ever. If so, I'd say they have a chance to be a preseason top-25 team next year (they pretty much are all underclass with just one senior of note).

Also FIU fought hard all three sets and IMO was our toughest foe in the tourney (and in regular season as they were one of our 2 L’s)
I’m sure they don’t have the overall resume for at-large consideration but they played the last month like an NCAA-worthy squad.
