I think Temple was top 15 in defensive S&P+ when they played UCF and UCF's offense torched them. Temple is still 29 (UC is 19th for comparison). As great as UC has been on defense nobody really stops UCF. Offense needs to get TDs, and can't have bad turnovers.
[/quote]
I'm not expecting UC to stop UCF on offense, but to slow them down which they are capable of imo. UC will be the best defense they have faced this year, and UC's D Line >> Temple's. I have faith that my man CLF will be able to scheme against UCF. It's not like he hasn't faced great offenses in the past.
If UC's offense gets rolling rushing the ball, then they will shorten the game, which is to their benefit.
The offense can't put the D in bad positions with turnovers and too many 3 and outs. UCF +14 in turnover margin and UC is -3. UCF's turnover margin helps them cover up an average defense. 10 of those turnovers were fumbles, so Ridder and company need to avoid the fumbles, and obviously Ridder needs to avoid INT's. Alot of pressure on our young QB. If he rises to the occasion, then I feel very good about UC's chances. They just need to get off to a good start.

RE: Score Predictions #19 Cincinnati at #11 UCF
again the key for Cincinnati is a strong running game which chews clock and keep the UCF offense off the field. of course if I am UCF I’m going to stack the box and force Cincinnati to keep me honest with passing. And thus the battle to see whom can impose thier will is on. Will be interesting for sure.

I have no idea how this game breaks.
I'm going to hope that this is a thriller and comes down to the last possession.
I'll be a bit of a homer and say UC wins this at the end:
UC: 44
UCF: 41
GO BEARCATS!

Temple was a Top 15 defense with the #4 pass defense before we faced them and absolutely annihilated their defense. Pitt has proven out to be a very good defense, who held ND to 19 points, and we scored 45 only because we slowed things way down once we were up by 30 points.
Cincy has a good defense but I also don't think ya'll have seen an offense anywhere near UCF's all season. We put up 52 points on UC in 3 quarters last year yet I see some people predicting we'll score 24 points - at home. You're going to shave off 30 points from our offense? C'mon.
It'll be a good game either way.
PS- as bad as our D was in first half of Temple, they then allowed 6 points in the entire 2nd half.

No one has held them under 30 in a long time. I hear a lot of, "they haven't played a defense like ours", however very few account for the fact that our D hasn't played anyone even remotely like UCF. They're going to score points on us. Period. That Auburn defense they roasted last season was the #1 defense, per Football Outsiders defensive efficiency stat. Their offense is better this season.

I agree, they'll get their points. Key is to hopefully pick up some turnovers and limit ours. If Ridder gets sloppy like he has in a couple games, it will be tought to keep up. They make you pay.

They sure can score; if anyone watched their game with Temple it was like a track meet. Frankly, after the rather anemic offense we saw in Philadelphia, I was amazed at all the points the Owls put up in the first half.
There's a lot to love about our 2018 Bearcats, but I do consider this game mission improbable, though not impossible. It will take nearly a perfect game to beat them; no turnovers, few penalties and the ability to score most every possession.
UCF is 22-0 for good reason. It's a great day for our program and this conference to have such a high profile game in November. I see no downside. And if we allow ourselves to dream about a win, the upside is huge. No money can buy this kind of exposure with prospective recruits. Heck, even with high school seniors wanting to apply and enroll at UC and be part of the campus scene.

We have to score most every possession. That's where Fickell's coaching style this year comes in handy. I certainly do not want to see UC punting from anywhere near midfield on fourth and less than five to go.
Off topic: I couldn't believe Green Bay punted on 4th and 2 with 4:00 to go in their game last night and only 1 Timeout remaining. The wusses never saw the ball again.

That's Mike McCarthy in a nutshell...he has effectively wasted the most physically gifted QB in the history of the NFL because he is the least aggressive person to ever coach a football team.

He was limited by the fact that he only has Aaron Rodgers as his QB. Too big a liability.

I am superstitious and will not predict the score. Just wish this were a home game - it would rock. Can you image Rumpke Port-o-let Nippert Stadium on a Saturday night?
