BC was down 13 in the second half. Can you imagine anyone on here being happy if UC was down by 13 in the second half or trailing 27-37 at half time? I doubt anyone would be calling that an easy win.

I see some flashes of this team being ok. But it involves Mick letting LoJo take over PG duties. Cane can be effective, but not as a 2G next to JJ. Also Cumberland needs to get back to his alpha mentality he had as a freshman, he basically looks uninterested which is surprising for a guy with NBA aspirations and someone who is taking over a leadership position.

Thoughts the following morning. Looked at the box score...

Minutes played: Tre Scott and Cane Broome rarely sat down. Just 6 players got significant minutes. I know JJ was out - but you are going to have some guys down at some point in the season. If the bench can't get on the floor against a November team, how will they help in conference play?

We need scoring off the bench.

We need shooting from wherever we can get it. Moore was supposed to be a shooter - why all the air balls. Williams looks good in "free form" offense situations, but that won't happen much against a good defense.

Free throws - especially early!
What is it about playing in the first half?

If this team is not successful, don't blame Tre Scott. He is a player.

I have shared my criticism for the way Mick has constructed this team, but have said that I like Tre Scott. My main issue is that Mick is basically relying on him carrying our offensive output in the front court which isnt going to fly against decent competition. Tre is nice secondary player, but not a main feature.

+1, Cumberland needs to return to better decision making which is drive first and shoot bombs when they are there. He's getting a little to far west of his bread and butter and shooting to many jump shots. He can get to the line a heck of a lot more and force the other team into foul trouble rather than ending up there himself. I think he tends to commit bad fouls off of misses on the other end. Johnson is the only way out of a season of half court funk, but you have to give him the rope to turn himself loose. He's playing with restraint for fear of getting yanked. Lastly, leave Fredericks on the floor for 10 minutes and let the kid get his feet under him. You can't bring a kid in who is used to playing 30 to 35 minutes a ball game and be yanking him every 2 minutes. We've seen this with multiple juco guys over the years whether it was Reuben, Cane, et. al. You have the luxury against these teams to leave him out there, and you need his offense.

It could be worse offensive. I watched the 2nd of WV and West. Ky last night after getting home. Wv preseason top 10 or 25, averaging 20 turnovers a game, 1 and 2. Absolutely brutal offensively. Makes our offense look good which is hard to fathom.

It's better to be good at the end of the season. They'll get it figured out.

O$U appears is better than everyone thought. We were in the range of beating them even after playing the worst first half in the history of basketball.

RE: Milwaukee game
I went to the game last night. First time since the renovation, I walked away very impressed. I was also impressed with the crowd, of course there were a ton of late arrivers ( people getting to their seats with 1 minute left in the 1st half ) but the 2 upper decks were full, overall a lot of red and black. One minor complaint, the rows are VERY narrow-if someone larger is sitting next to you, you may be touching knees, which I don't care about but I digress. Lojo looked good, Cane looked good-several nice drives to the rim-Scott looked decent. Trevor Moore airballed his only 3 attempt-Nsoesme has no offensive IQ, and Fredericks has an ugly shot, and generally looks to be over his head at the d-1 level.

I am glad they won, but last years teams wins this by 25 plus. Walking into the tunnel after the game Mick was shaking his head, angry at something-not sure what. Overall great experience and well worth the $$

Yeah, he rarely misses in warmups. He has great form and you can tell he is a great shooter. So yeah, probably just needs to get out of his head. He hasn't shot many so far, so hopefully he can get one to fall and then a couple more and show he can do it and get his confidence going. He keeps coming up deep, so probably just too much adrenaline and just needs to relax and let it come to him.

If he can get those going, he will add a major dimension and a zone breaker. He plays hard and good defense, but he needs that get game confidence in his shot.

he's actually pretty nifty when he fakes gets a defender in the air and gets a clean look closer to the hoop
