Hayford transfer wins WAC Player of the Week in week 1
Myles Carter, 3-star transfer from Seton Hall taking over for Aaron Menzies, wins WAC Player of the Week in his first three games at SU. Carter is averaging 18ppg/8.7rpg/2.3bpg so far.

He fits Hayford's system way better than Menzies and it's showing so far. After being kicked out of Seton Hall for grade issues, it's clear so far he is a Big East talent

Good for Seattle U. I watched the Bryant game and Carter was a man among boys in the paint.

To be honest, unlike last season when NMSU relied heavily on Lofton and Jones, I don't expect Aggie players to win many WAC weekly awards this season. NMSU is just too deep at every position and on any given night anyone could have a big game. Case in point, look at the WAC individual stats. Aggie players barely register in the top 15 in any category yet NMSU overpowered two opponents. Our Terrell Brown is the Aggie team's leader scorer at 12ppg... and he comes off the bench.

If everyone remains unselfish, thats an ideal way to play the game. Will be fun to watch.

Seattle U has played the entire roster 15 men deep all three games. I'm not sure how long that will continue but there will be way, way more depth this year. Last year the team was only going 7 or 8 guys deep

Since it's partially related to the topic of WAC Player of the Week -- Tyeshia Bowers gets robbed on the women's side. She averaged 27 ppg against Xavier and Evansville, shot 58.3% (at 5'7), went 12 of 14 from the FT line, and logged 36 minutes a game. She single-handedly kept them in the game against Evansville. Unfortunately, being the best player on a losing team won't get much attention from the conference.

Now THOSE are some numbers! Salas did go for a solid 22 ppg and 6 rpg, but sounds like Russian hackers were involved in the manipulation of that vote!

Salas averaged 22 ppg in only 22.5 minutes per game. That's almost a point a minute. She also shot 66.7% from the floor in two wins.

To be fair, NMSU played UT Permian Basin in the first game -- so a blowout win for NMSU was to be expected and she certainly took advantage of it. Salas fouled out against Western Michigan so her minutes were limited; however, it's true she scored a lot while she was in. She's just a darn good scorer in general. New Mexico State is an excellent team as well so teams can't just isolate on her and expect a result.
