If that happens, we finish 11-1, and go to whatever the current equivalent is to the Poulan Weedeater Bowl. And Fickell starts send out resumes as fast as he can.

Again this season, the Big 12 has eight bowl slots guaranteed.
There could be hope for a leftover B12 leftover like the Liberty.
B12 has 4 qualified and

1. Baylor 5-5 they lose to TCU and TT end 5-7
2. TT 5-5 they beat Baylor and KS end 7-5
3. OKS 5-5 then WVU and TCU they lose to WVU and beat TCU end 6-6
4. KS 4-6 they lose to TT and ISU end 4-8
6. TCU 4-6 they beat Baylor and lose to OKS end 5-7

B12 qualifies 6 so UC takes Liberty slot and gets an SEC team.

This is actually one of the more hopeful things i've read today. I'd be more than happy with this outcome if we don't take the AAC.

It could happen but why worry about it. It's much more likely ucf beats USf.

You guys are putting the cart way before the horse. We know how Cincy teams perform in the spotlight. I’m just gonna enjoy them being so much better than I thought.

Honestly unlike other big games. I don’t view this a must win as the program is ahead of schedule. I want them to win badly but won’t view a loss as a failure but rather a benchmark to reach. Hoping for a clean game with good officiating so the better team wins.

Absolutely. I'd love to have this game but this season is already an unequivocal success.

This Saturday falls into the category of a "bonus" game. The team doesn't need to win, but wouldn't it be great if they did.

And while a month ago I would have considered this a certain loss, each week since I have become more impressed with the Bearcats and less impressed with the Knights. The opportunity is there.

Pretty much how I see it. The only downside to us winning out (aside from demand for our coaches), is how more painful that loss to Temple in OT would become. Even though Temple has since then proven that their improvement from a miserable start is legit, I still feel like UC was clearly the superior team that day. But these things happen.

I haven't been looking forward to any football game as much as this one in several years. I should probably warn the neighbors to expect to hear a lot of yelling come Saturday night.

Again this season, the Big 12 has eight bowl slots guaranteed. The Conference is partnered with nine bowls. However the arrangement with the Gator Bowl is for it to select a Big 12 team twice over a four-year period. In the two years in which the Gator does not select a Big 12 team, the Sun Bowl will.
Following is the selection order:
CFP
Valero Alamo
Camping World Bowl
AdvoCare V100 Texas Bowl
AutoZone Liberty Bowl
Cactus Bowl
Heart of Dallas Bowl

RE: Someone explain the AAC divisional tiebreaker to me.
So I kept seeing people post tiebreaker scenarios where overall record eliminated Temple in a 3 way tie, but I'm not sure that is the case anymore and think it will come down to Playoff Committee rankings after this weekend. http://theamerican.org/documents/2018/10...licies.pdf

By my reading of this... a 3 way tie for the division would come down to who was ranked highest in the College Football playoff rankings after this weekend. If we beat UCF AND move past them in the playoff rankings, we will win a 3 way tie. If we beat them and somehow stay behind them, we will not.

If I read that right, it would come down to the highest ranked team in the Playoff Committee rankings. That will not be Temple. I would think the committee would place us ahead of Central Florida if we beat UCF at their place.

I'm guilty there of relying on Wiki. It misplaced overall winning percentage, which in actuality is way down the list just above the coin flip. You're right it will be the final CFP ranking. Hopefully a win would be enough to leapfrog them. Regardless, I can't wait until Saturday!!

This is accurate...with the caveat that it will be highest ranking off the committee after THIS COMING WEEKEND. You would assume UC would pass UCF if they won in Orlando, but it makes this weeks playoff rankings kind of important. It'd be nice if UC was starting this week in the rankings. It's possible the committee drops UCF but not far enough for UC to pass them even after UC wins there. If that happens UCF wins a 3 way tiebreaker.

Specifically not the final college football playoff ranking. It would be next weeks college football playoff ranking.

RE: Someone explain the AAC divisional tiebreaker to me.
It would be this version, correct?

C. MULTIPLE TEAM TIE FOR THE DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP
a. If three or more teams are tied atop a division at the end of the season, the following
criteria are used to eliminate teams until just two teams remain, at which point the
two-team tiebreaking procedure is used;
b. If one team defeated all other teams, then that team shall be declared the division
champion;
c. If still tied, and if two teams defeated the additional tied team (s), the defeated
team(s) is eliminated;
d. If still tied, highest winning percentage of tied teams within the division;
e. If still tied, head-to-head competition against the team within the division with the
next best overall Conference winning percentage (4, 5, and 6) breaking ties using the
conference tie-breaking procedures proceeding through the division until one team
prevails;
f. If still tied, combined highest winning percentage against all common non-divisional
Conference opponents;
g. If still tied, if one team was ranked in the latest available CFP Selection Committee
rankings and wins in the final weekend of the Conference regular season, they will
be declared the division champion, If in that same scenario, the team that was the
highest-ranked team in the latest available CFP Selection Committee rankings loses in
the final weekend of the Conference regular season, a composite average of selected
computer rankings (Anderson & Hester, Billingsley, Colley and Wolfe) will be used to
determine the division champion;
h. If there are multiple teams ranked in the latest available CFP Selection Committee
rankings, the highest-ranked team that wins in the final weekend of the Conference
regular season will be declared the division champion;
i. If none of the ranked teams win in the final weekend of the Conference regular
season, a composite average of selected computer rankings (Anderson & Hester,
Billingsley, Colley and Wolfe) after all games conclude the final weekend of the
Conference regular season will be used to determine the division champion;
j. If no teams are ranked in the latest available CFP Selection Committee rankings going
into the final weekend of the Conference regular season, a composite average of
selected computer rankings (Anderson & Hester, Billingsley, Colley and Wolfe) after all
games conclude the final weekend of the Conference regular season will be used to
determine the division champion;
k. If still tied, the team with the highest overall (Conference and non-conference winning
percentage [excluding exempt games] shall be the division champion;
l. If still tied, coin toss will be conducted by the Commissioner.

Regarding UCF: they can't win forever. They HAVE to lose a game sometime. This week may just be that sometime.

All I know is that you can only control what you do.

Just keep winning and all the other s*** will take care of itself.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm fairly certain the final ranking scenario was what gave WVU the Big East championship back in 2011 in a similar situation. I always figured we just kept the same criteria as the OBE.

I don't remember how the tiebreaker was determined that year.

I do think this is different. I think a big purpose of the tiebreaker as written is the maximize the opportunity for an Access Bowl slot.

Huh? Why would they do the ranking a week before the season ends?
