There are no cakewalks in the CAA...ever
Especially not when it comes to the Capital Cup.
Richmond has some talented athletes on their team, but have been unable to put it together this year. One of their huge downfalls has been turnovers. They are 5th from the bottom in FCS in turnover margin, having lost
27. I think if we can win the turnover margin, similar to what we did against Villanova - we will win the game. If we don't, and give Richmond the ball and field position, they can beat us.
I also want to point out that no game is a cupcake when you have the
last in the conference scoring offense. However, this week's opponent is less daunting as others - Richmond is allowing the most points per game in the conference.
Some other notable stats. Out of 12 CAA teams, Richmond ranks:
2nd in the conference in Pass Offense, only three yards per game behind Towson.
3rd in total offense.
10th in rush defense.
12th in pass defense.
12th in total defense.
They can put up points, (28 vs both Elon and Delaware) but their defense is very porous.
This game could come down to which defense gets the stops, and who has the costly turnovers. I'm optimistic that we pull out the win and make this a respectable season.
