Very telling that our current AD was 45 yards away during this ceremony and our former AD (I think) was at midfield near Cole.

It makes you wonder what interaction occurred between Coach and the AD earlier in the year since his contract would have expired 1/31/19.

Coach finished his last game as he coached his career- putting the players first and doing it the right way with class. Thanks Coach Laycock for all the AWESOME moments you gave us. I must agree with him that the 2004 Semifinal game in our house was the best of many!

Yeah, just what we need, recruits (or players) stolen from that mighty FCS powerhouse Howard. They already have (or had; I haven't looked in a while) Cam Newton's brother and they are still not winning.

I can think of one of our coordinators who I hope has absolutely NO shot at the job.

Huge likes to make her mark/leave her stamp on the program. She is going to bring in all new hires and probably Sauer would be the only one who might survive the purge.

Put together the opponent chart. Every time I started typing my kid decided she wanted attention so I hope I didn't butcher anything. These numbers will change a little since some of the teams still have games left:[Image: football.jpg]

Just a reminder: the first 6 columns are what the opponents did, the next 6 are what the opponents allowed. W&M's numbers are cross-matched so it shows what the defense did against those offenses and vice versa. Green means W&M's averages were better than their opponent averages; red means worse.

If last year was summed up with "nothing matters when you can't throw the football", this year is summed up as "nothing really matters when your offense is a cry for help." The passing game probably suffered from facing a tough slate of pass defenses. The running game was really, really bad. The defense probably did about as well as could be expected.

I somewhat agree with Tribal’s post. Andrews should be the only person on staff that gets consideration. I think Jerry Taylor had a great year. There’s not a doubt in my mind that Mangas and Crowley are gone. Speaking of them, did anyone that went to the celebration last night see them there? I didn’t.

RE: Richmond
Dumping stats here for now: for the season W&M's average drive started at their own 28.34. Opponents started at their 35.76. That doesn't sound like much but if you assume 10 drives/game that's around 70 yards in hidden yardage. W&M started 35 drives inside their own 20. They started 13 drives on the opponent's side of the field. Opponents started 24 drives inside their own 20 and 30 drives in W&M territory. The offense couldn't move the ball and the punting unit couldn't flip the field. W&M would usually get crock-potted as the defense would wear down slowly under constant, unyielding pressure.

I have no inside knowledge, but with a coaching change I'd guess most if not all guys eligible to graduate will probably graduate. Most guys going into their final year of eligibility wouldn't be thrilled playing for a coach that didn't recruit them and has no loyalty to them.

Always interesting with a HC change to see how the new coach fares in that transition. Richmond has been bumpy for Huesman with the Rocco cupboard. At least this has been an anticipated change for Tribe players.

History has usually favored the success of a successor who wisely honors and keeps a legend HC predecessor involved and visible during the transition.

They were honored at the game. Suarez, Cornett, Sims, Brown, Waxter, Britt

Atkins can graduate in May and he is another RS-Jr.. But, he definitely did not walk Saturday. I think he is going to do grad school.

That's great! The only name I recognized from the other list from actual game broadcasts was Suarez. I recognized Britt's name only because he is Brandon Britt's brother. So we wouldn't be losing very much game time experience from the others (well, at least not from any names I would have heard on the broadcasts).

I wonder if McDermott realized that Huesman was on the opposite sideline this week. He probably spent more time with Huesman than Laycock during his time here.

True. Brown filled a pretty big role this year but Suarez is the main loss from this list. Lots of guys who are 5th years to be that we need to keep. Namely, Murray, Atkins, Parker, Klaus, Hayes, Christian, funderburke, Williamson, battle, Conlan, wimmer and Campbell. That’s a big, good class for us. Recruiting job number one for the new coach is to keep these guys in the fold.

Yes, I have heard all those names during games.

Did not want to give this the space of a new thread, since nothing about them deserves it.

For those who did not see the Fire Mooney billboard that went up on 95 in Richmond this week. Karma is so good after how they left the CAA for basketball, and the lost trust with us in their dishonesty about it. What a dumpster fire, and what a classless way to address it. What coach with any real integrity would want to go there now.
