It is the BlazerGameday folks that Scarbinsky helps run. I am glad he put this piece together.

Even though sometimes he has been off base (Person to UAB, etc.) when he gets it right there aren't too many people better around here that can write a sports article like Kevin.

Well I mean he does now have a financial incentive for UAB football to do well since he works for Bruno Event Team, and they manage the gameday experience at Legion Field

Yes, but Scarbo didn't have to bend over backwards to help us in our darkest hours, but he did because he knew we were being done wrong. He has lived through many of our problems (the OCS issue in 2011, the shutdown, and more), and he saw us get the short end over and over.

I think he has a level of emotional investment in this program now, not just his job.

Kevin (and his family, for that matter) has been to many UAB football and basketball games. He's been something of a closet fan, because of the "no cheering in the press box" ethos of sports journalists. He is free to be more open now.

He was both helpful and kind to us during the shutdown. It ain't about the money.
