Beef BBQ is far superior. Charleston has a huge BBQ scene going on now. Lewis BBQ is amazing. Lewis was previously with Franklins.

I'll agree with your "lucky man" part. My wife has been in NB for the past 10 years. She had no desire to leave, so when we were dating it was simple.............move to NB! LOL Good choice on both accounts! 04-cheers

I do think Bar-BQ should be pork. Chicken and beef can be delicious but pork is the best.

I honestly wonder if it's just what we are used to growing up that decides what it "should" be.

To me? If it ain't brisket, you're just grilling. I know from the dictionary that is NOT correct, but to me, anything other than pork ribs is just not as tasty.

But then again, i grew up eating brisket, so... you know it makes sense.

I noticed that the App State alumni association is serving Dickey's BBQ.

A.) This is the Taco Bell of BBQ.
B.) They're serving pulled pork and chicken, not even brisket.

When in Rome, do as the Romans do.

I'm from Memphis, and the other guy is from Alabama. So pork is what we grew up on. Brisket is okay to me, but to me it's just like beef tenderloin. Which is tasty, but can be made a bunch of different ways. Pork shoulder and pork ribs are only made one or two ways, or it won't be the same.

Funny when you say if it's not brisket, you're just grilling. That's they way I feel about pork. BBQing and grilling are different, I do agree.

As far as which is superior, we will just have to agree to disagree 04-cheers

It's all personal preference, and let's be real here... I ain't turning down either!

But I do struggle with the heavy vinegar BBQ sauces. Just can't fathom how that is "right"!

It's ALL GOOD, so slap it on a plate and serve it up with an ice cold cerveza . . . .

RE: Parking & Restaurants in San Marcos
The last time I visited San Marcos, I stopped at Grin's for a burger and beers and the Root Cellar Café for breakfast. Grin's was a popular hangout back in the 70's, so I had to stop there. The Root Cellar was recommended to me and was very good. Grin's was not as good as I remembered it, but I don't eat many burgers anymore, other than the occasional In-N-Out Burger.

Oh man, Grin's... I forgot about that place. It was so great back in the day. I need to get down there and try it out again.

Dickey’s pork, chicken, and brisket are very average, but I’m actually a fan of their turkey.

Best spot for $1 margaritas. I wonder if that still exists. Food was never great to me but $1 margs was.

i'd prefer $1 tequila or mezcal. Too busy dealing with liver failure to handle diabetes as well.
