Hoops season opener vs. BU
As has been tradition lately, we open the season against cross town rival bu. Since we started playing them OOC, we are 9-4, and generally they are very close games. Multiple OT games, buzzer beaters, with only two decided by 10+points, both NU wins.

There's evidence we are pulling away from them as a program, and I hope this year we lay a smack down and show them. I havent seen any vegas odds yet for this game, maybe -8.5 points sounds right? I'm not sure. Hoping for a big win and excited to see our guys back out there. Wonder who will be our starting 5!

If we don’t win by 15 points or more, color me disappointed.

They have a young team with one senior and from what I’ve read, Whyte has an injury and is iffy for the game.

Here’s bu’s coach Joe Jones during the intermission of the hockey game Saturday night...

Good luck tonight. BU is generally a tough team, especially in a city rivalry game

Thanks! I figure our game will have points where we feel comfortable and then some point where bu goes on a run. How we react will determine if we win big, or have a battle down to the end. Losing this game would be a big hit to us.

Good luck at Campbell. I love the early season OOC games because I get to root for everyone in our conference.

GoNU.com (NUHuskies blah whatever) says the Huskies hold a 74-73 record against the Terriers all time. the bu website says it's 73-73. What gives?

8pm start time due to NESN? Can't wait.

A couple of Vegas casinos have us at -14 for tonight. As a team we got better as the season went on last year. Can we continue on with the success? If so we beat the spread. But season openers are always tricky.

College Insider has us at #6 in the Mid-Major top 25 poll. I can't remember us ever being in the top 10 of that poll, even during the Janning-team season we flirted with an at-large and the year we won the CAA tourney.

Green and Murphy on the floor at the same time. 16-16 with 9 minutes to go in the 1st. Pusica with 12 points.

Not much choice with Boursiqout out. Can't play with four guards.

NU up 3 at half. Not shooting the 3 well. Early easy misses. If the shots start to fall we should grow the lead. Concerning is rebounding.

Yep.

I’m concerned about Occeus. He hurt his ankle yesterday (and we sorely missed his defense and shooting) and he was on crutches after the game.

To me it looks like he’ll miss the game at Harvard game Friday night too. Max Boursiqot hurt his ankle and missed the game too.

But despite that NU didn’t close out bu. Give them credit, they played harder down the stretch and made some lucky shots. They have some freshman who are better than I thought they were.

Let’s hope both Shawn and Max can somehow play in Charleston.

RE: Hoops season opener vs. BU
We start the season with only eleven bodies because of the incoming transfers.. The coach seems to have no confidence in Miller or Strong (in a game where we desperately needed bigs) so now we're down to nine. Then Max and Brace go down and we're down to seven dependable guys facing a hungrier BU team who seemed to get every loose ball, killed us on offensive the boards and played aggressive defense. They deserved the win. I wish we shot somewhere our usual percentage from the floor, though.
Harvard will be tough if Max and Brace are out but they are shorthanded, too. Two of their four star players (Aiken and Towns) are out. Between them they average 30 ppg.
