I'd trust you to understand the basic rules and fundamentals of the games, though....although I doubt anything will ever top the one fan years ago screaming for a 3-second call....on the defense.

Do you remember Delaware Lady....the old lady who comes to the DAC for every Delaware men's and women's game, with her cute little sign and pom-poms? We were sitting in the section behind Timer, and she was sitting right behind my daughter and I. I think my daughter was 8 at the time. She screamed in my daughter's ear every time Delaware made a free throw...not a 3 pointer...a FREE THROW. So loud obnoxious fans come in all shapes, sizes, and ages.

Down 44-24 at end of the 3rd

The short bit I watched, everything on offense is forced. Their zone appears to be trouble for us. Thankfully Penn has missed their FT's.

You were down 16-4 after one. You gained 4 in the fourth to lose 55-39. You attempted 32 threes and made 6. Before today you were averaging 17.7 threes attempted.

That was about as ugly as game as I can remember this team playing. Drexel was never in the game. Penn plays the same kind of matchup zone defense that Drexel plays but ironically, Drexel’s offense couldn’t figure it out. We knew Penn was strong. They were ranked 19th in the MM poll while Drexel was 8th. I can see those rankings flip flopping after today. So far the OOC season as gone just like a typical CAA season for Drexel. They’ve so far beaten everybody who they should beat but struggled against the other ranked teams on the schedule. As I’ve said before, it’s probably going to the same old same old for Drexel. They should finish in the top 3 in the conference, and will most likely end up back in the WNIT.

On another note, it was a really fun, loud, electric atmosphere at the DAC today or Health and Wellness Day. The DAC was packed with elementary school students who appeared to be having a blast outside of the classroom.

I wasn't home to watch any of today's game, but they continued their suffocating defense in Richmond to blow them out 58-35. Drexel ends non-conference play at a very impressive 9-2, and still leads the nation in fewest points allowed.

RE: Women's Basketball 2019
Another good effort. I still have concerns about whether we can win this conference. Our defense is stifling, our offense is still quite suspect. We have done a great job beating the teams we should beat, however against the good teams on our schedule our results have not been good. So JMU looms and NU is improved. Elon is still strong. I have no doubts we finish high in the standings, but we need to improve our ability to score against the better teams the CAA will throw at us. We play home against JMU and @NU in our first 4 games. I think the start to the conference slate will tell us where we really are.

how do you feel about the "same old same old"?

i'm good with it. we have a nice conveyer belt going with some of the local catholic schools. i do think there is a ceiling with the types of players we bring in. jmu and now elon are bringing in some bigger and more athletic players. we've never put much emphasis on size...but seem to make our deep runs when we do.

judging by the roster...we should be lined up to make a big run next year. taking a real shot every 3-4 years while always staying in the mix could be seen as overachieving at drexel.

I'm fine with it, but it would be nice of one of these years they can figure out a way to climb over the top again and get back to the NCAA Tournament. It's been 10 years now without a CAA championship, and they've had quite a few teams that were strong enough to win most mid-major conferences. It's always that one team, JMU, Elon, DellaDonne, that they just can seem to get past.

Drexel lost to Towson by 1 on a last minute shot. Drexel shot really poorly in the second half. It was a very bad loss that exposed a lot of the weaknesses of this team. This just doesn't feel like the team that's going to win the CAA.

RE: Women's Basketball 2019
That was a heartbreaker. Towson ends their 19 game losing streak to Drexel. I'll give Towson credit. It was a completely new team full of a bunch of transfers, and not the Towson team that we're used to seeing. Drexel has to face JMU next and they're in danger of staring the season 0-2 at home. This is looking like a wide open CAA this year. RPI wise, the league is a bit weaker, but overall from top to bottom, the league appears to be much improved.

RE: Women's Basketball 2019
As I said the first 4 games will tell us where our season is likely headed. This was definitely a different and better Towson team, but also one we still should beat, especially at home. We still have JMU and NU coming up so the start could be rough, hopefully we do not get deflated if we start 1-3 in conference.

RE: Women's Basketball 2019
I did not get to watch yesterday's game, but the second half appeared to have gone very poorly with our women scoring a mere 11 points. JMU is too good to not score points. While our defense is still strong, we have got to find ways to put the ball through the hoops. Giving up 51 to JMU is an encouraging effort. Scoring 35 wont ever work.

Ouch. Looking at the box score, Drexel went 3/23 in field goals in the second half, including 0/11 in the fourth quarter. All of Drexel's points in the fourth quarter came from free throws.

Those stats are crazy bad. Usually I go to the women's games on Sunday afternoons. I had something to do yesterday, so I missed the game entirely. Probably a good thing that I stayed away.
