RE: Women's Basketball 2019
seeding for the women is a good discussion to have. if I'm looking at the standings and schedule right we're 2 games clear of towson for 2nd with a game at hand. drexel, towson, and jmu all play each other down the stretch. I feel like the uncw game is important. if we beat them and towson loses to jmu...we could lose to jmu and towson on the last weekend and still get #2. correct me if I'm wrong.

obviously I hope we don't lose to jmu and towson since that would be huge momentum going into the tournament. I haven't seen either team so I can't comment on how we match up. The difference between #2 and #3 isn't too much since either way you avoid jmu until the final. I would love to have a reason to drive back to Newark and eat at the Japanese restaurant down there in a few weeks.

I think it's still too early to look real closely at the seedings. My gut tells me that this year will be a total repeat of the past two seasons. My prediction is that they will finish strong at about 14-4 or 15-3, and get the #2 seed. They'll fight their way to the final where they'll be out muscled by a bigger, stronger, JMU squad. They end up with an RPI of around 70 and go back to the WNIT, where they'll win the first game at home, and then lose a close game in round 2 to a team from a power conference.

RE: Women's Basketball 2019
We definitely need to beat with UNCW or Towson. Not only for the standings but to really feel like we are ready for the CAAT. NU has slipped so there is a clear top 4. UNCW and Towson both have matched up well with JMU so not sure who I care to see in the potential 2/3 game. But the first game is looking like either W&M or NU. Personally I would rather see W&M because there is just more talent on NU. So NU finishing ok down the stretch to pass W&M seems more important to me than who finishes 3 or 4. I think both Towson and UNCW have shown to match up well with JMU, probably even better than ourselves.

RE: Women's Basketball 2019
The CAA is so talented 1-8 this year, that there is no easy game in the CAAT, unless Hofstra or Charleston manage to steal a first round win. Drexel had an easy go of it last year when then dominated UNCW. I don't see that happening again this year. W&M and Northeastern are really getting sick of losing to Drexel and they'll both be giving it their all against either Drexel or JMU. The only advantage for the 1 and 2 seeds is that they get to play a tired team who played the day before.

Agreed, and based on that I think we would rather W&M than NU. I think NU seems to just be more talented, that I would rather not have to go that route. I think we should be able to beat either, but I agree neither will be a walk in the park. The only team I am convinced we are not better than is JMU. So we want UNCW or Towson to get their crack at them, which seems likely.

i caught a comment somewhere from coach dillon that she has a lot of players who are making the right adjustments to contribute on offense. that's why I believe we haven't peaked yet. we have probably 4-5 players who are on the brink of being really good.

RE: Women's Basketball 2019
Another huge win for the Dragons last night as they led for almost the entire game and took down up and coming UNCW at Trask 65-53. Drexel extends their overall winning streak to 11 and their road winning streak to 13. It was also the first loss at Trask for UNCW this year.

Late in the game, Drexel had their 10 point lead cut down to 3 with 2:10 left (56-53). Greenberg fouls out of the game. Trask was going crazy. Their cheerleader/coach Karen was waiving her arms up in the air, and all of the momentum was going the way of the dub. Then Leonard took a charge. Refs made the right call. Karen freaked out and got a technical. The air was let out of the balloon. The Dragons held their composure and scored the last 9 points of the game and the rest was history.

Freshman Washington had her best game as a Dragon scoring a career high 21. She hit 2 huge 3 pointers in the 4th quarter and really took charge with Greenberg out most of the 4th quarter with foul trouble.

With the win and the sweep of the dub, Dragons have now pretty much clinch at least 3rd place. They have 3 very winnable games coming up against COC, WM, and Elon, then they finish up the season with 2 tough road games against JMU and Towson.

It was not always pretty but a win is a win and it was an important one. UNCW was at home, undefeated with everything to play for. Coming out with a win is huge for taking strides at this conference.

We’re going to win the CAA and go to the tournament.

Hendrixson didn’t score and we still won. Washington is more athletic than guards we’ve had in the past. I just feel like Coach Dillon is going to put this all together.

RE: Women's Basketball 2019
Another take care of business win for Drexel as they've now won 12 in a row beating Charleston 65-42. Dragons got off to a slow start and actually trailed 14-12 after 1, but dominated the 2nd and 4th quarters to roll to another dominating win.

Drexel gets their 20th win of the season for the 3rd year in a row. They have now clinched at least a 3 seed. Drexel needs to take care of business at home next weekend against WM and Elon, while JMU and Towson have a huge showdown next weekend. There still a shot at the #1 seed.

I wanted to pick us before the last weekend which will be a measuring stick. It would be too easy to jump on the bandwagon if we win both games. JMU didn’t beat WM by 30 so I don’t see a buzz saw out there.

Nobody else is going to stick their neck out for Coach Dillon and Drexel women’s basketball?

We still face Towson and JMU. Both whom we lost to. Both those teams concern me. We finish with both on the road. Those games will be the ones to truly tell us where we are and if we are ready to cut the nets down again. JMU has had our number for a long time. Unless our path to a title does not involved them, I will constantly have my doubts until we can prove to beat the top dog.

Do you guys love or hate the fact that the tournament is at Delaware? My homer brain wants to believe that playing at Delaware makes every Drexel player feel icky and that JMU would gain an advantage. :)

Keep thinking that. It just depends how many cover-up stickers have to get put up on that court and what type of slick spot is causes. Delaware has not had success against us outside of the EDD years, recently, so playing there is not that much of a concern. Cutting down the nets on your rivals court would actually make it that much sweeter to have them watch us celebrate on their floor in front of them...assuming any are still awake

RE: Women's Basketball 2019
I'm thrilled about any CAA Tournament games that I can get to in an hour drive or less. However, I likely won't be able to make it to any games this year anyway unless Drexel makes it to the championship game. BTW, the average age of a Delaware Women's Basketball fan is about 92 and their students won't care enough to make the ride over to the BOB anyway. So I'm not really concerned about a Delaware home court advantage.

Yeah, wasn't really alluding to UDel "fans". Just the hate you feel deep in your heart anytime you see blue chicken logos, etc..

I do enjoy the Delaware hate.

Classic war at the DAC tonight, but an excruciating loss in 3OT as they end their 12 game winning streak. Game took over 2.5 hours to play. Drexel had an awful shooting game from 3. I'll give WM credit. They put on an unbelievable defensive effort.

Dragons need to get a lot of rest because they've got another huge game against Elon on Sunday that they really have to win to try to clinch that #2 seed.

RE: Women's Basketball 2019
That was a tough game to watch. Their zone definitely gave us fits. 2-28 from 3 wont ever get it done. W&M did everything in their power to try and give us this game and we refused to take it. Not often a team has over 20 turnovers and wins the game. We did just about nothing right in this game. Forget and move on. Elon should be a much easier game on Sunday.
