Ladies with a solid opening CAA road win at Hofstra, 60-55. Got to win the one's you're expected to win.

Bianca Boggs is having a CAA type MVP senior season. Last night at Hofstra she scored 26 points out of our team's 60 to go with 10 rebounds...and played 39 minutes.

Women lose by 14 at Northeastern (now 12-1, 2-0). Game felt like 5 on 8 for most of the way. Bianca Boggs played only 6 minutes of the first half because of sitting with two fouls. Give Northeastern credit, they sank 20-22 free throws in the second half to keep the Tribe at arm's reach.

Before the game was even over, the Northeastern announcers were talking about what seed the Huskies might get in the NCAA tournament. They weren't even 2-0 in the league yet. I call that a little getting ahead of themselves. They better hope Jess Genco doesn't get injured or their whole season is toast (definitely not wanting that; just saying that I have seen a lot of promising seasons derailed by injuries (including some Tribe ones)).

While you are completely right about NE not getting ahead of themselves, I can guarantee if men's bball was 12-1 entering league play, we'd be discussing what seed we deserve in the tournament.

Hmm, I disagree. If anybody knows not to get ahead of themselves, it is W&M (especially after the last two minutes of 2014). I might breathe easier if the Tribe has a 20 point lead with 30 seconds left in the CAAT final (note that I wrote "might").

Bingo!

And what do you want our student broadcasters to say? We’re gearing up for the WNIT?

Barring any unforeseen circumstances NU is playing like a postseason team so far.

Don’t taking everything you hear so serious Zorch.

I guess I shouldn't take everything I read so seriously either, right? Ha ha.

If they are students learning, with aspirations towards being a pro broadcaster, then they definitely should learn about the proper time and place to discuss certain topics. Talking NCAA tournament (as a given) after two league games is not the proper time nor place.

Note also that I said that it was too soon to talk NCAA tournament. I agree that they can probably talk generic postseason (which includes WNIT and that other women's tournament) but the women's NCAA is even worse than the men's when it comes to non-power5 conferences getting at large bids. So the only way Northeastern (or any CAA team) is going to the women's NCAA tournament is to win the CAA tournament --- and it is too early for any team to make their reservations yet.

Zorch, can you send the NU student broadcasters a treatise on what you say the proper time and/or place is for talking about specific postseason tournaments? It would be helpful to have different sections for different postseason tournaments, with a season (and off-season) timeline for when each postseason tournament can be properly discussed. If you're feeling frisky, include an addendum that addresses preseason tournaments as well.

I thought I already did that!

Women beat UNCW last night 70-64. They had quite a few turnovers in the last minute or so, but they had fortunately built up a big enough lead to hold on.

RE: 2018-19 Womens BBall
The weekend basketball malaise spread to the women this afternoon. They were stunned by a bad Charleston team, 66-54 in a game where we were non-existent on the boards and made only 4 out of 12 foul shots.

Boggs scored 18 points but missed six of eight foul shots.

Tribe is middle of the pack in CAA standings. Statistically, our ladies outperform opponents in nearly every category. Like our men, they've let a few winnable games get away. Unlike the men, they only have a short time remaining with their star player.

Big win for the Tribe today, 65-60 over Elon. Hodgson did a great job handling the ball, Birdsong and Krause hit some timely threes, Gabby Rogers had a super great offensive rebound, and Misha Jones provided the senior leadership that you need in a tight game, including icing the game with two free throws with 6 seconds left.

Great game, ladies!!

Big crowd today, almost 1000. Boggs played poorly compared to normal and the others, as Zorch said, picked up the slack.

Big win on the road today! Beat first place Towson by 11. Held Jeter, the CAA's leading scorer, to 2 points! Misha Jones continues to impress. Great senior leadership, great late-game foul shooting (6-6).

Best win of the season...handed a very good Towson team their first home loss of the season! Stayed solid every time Towson made a run.

I watched some of it on my computer and the ladies played a solid team game, not just Boggs. If they can maintain this level they have a chance to contend for the CAA crown at tourney time.
