Good points. I would disagree w/ the last one though. If we ever move up, pretty sure most fans would be excited to get home & homes with those three schools. Gotta figure they are getting them because of the recruiting area, not because those schools really want to play Charlotte (or in any way consider them an equal). They are leveraging their location just like ODU.

The next step up for us might be scattered p5 home games, and many g5 games against similiar level programs.
So to be clear, I'm not looking to be Charlotte, but am ready to move up to the next level. I'm looking for us to be the g5 power we are in FCS. That's a reasonable "goal".

Well done, JMU Athletics. We are blessed to have such great young people and leaders.

Agree, and frankly I doubt there's many G5's with more than 3 P5 home games scattered across 10 years. ODU has 5, 3 with Tech, one each with UVA and Wake. Marshall has two, one each with Pitt and Tech. Appy has two UNC and South Carolina. ODU is in a very unique situation and it appears Tech is moving away from their long tradition of contracting with ECU in favor of ODU.
Nevertheless, I don't anticipate JMU having more than three home P5 games over a decade. It would be great to have one every other season, but I can't see that happening until we get well established as an FBS program similar to ECU who does have a well balanced slate of P5 schools averaging one coming to Greenville every other year.

Liberty has several too.. Liberty!!!! Incredible. They host UVA and Tech and BYU and Syracuse and UNC and Duke. Crazy that ODU and Liberty are hosting UVA and Tech. Either one of them at JMU would be our biggest home game ever!!

Don’t know if anyone is watching Alabama vs Florida in the WCWS tonight. The SEC Pitcher of the Year (Cornell) is pitching for Alabama, and she was a transfer from Hofstra and former CAA Pitcher of the Year. She’s proof that the best players in the CAA can compete at the highest level...but the mystique of the SEC is a tough draw to counter. I’m curious as to why she choose to transfer.

That Hofstra team she was on was loaded with seniors, 7 of them were starters, and I imagine that had something to do with her transferring. She was good but we did well against her, I thought. She had a very annoying screaming yelp when she released the ball, think a tennis player doing the same when hitting shots. Anyway I listened intently to see if she is still yelping and I could not hear it during yesterday's broadcast. Perhaps her new coach told her to cut that BS out.

Yes, congrats to all 3. I've become accustomed to Megan and CC getting recognition at high levels. I'm very pleased to see the national focus giving some love to Kate. She deserves it as well. Well done, ladies.

That’s great, but curious how somebody that was one of 3 finalist for POY only gets on the 3rd team as an “at large P”?

The finalist for POY nomination was out of respect for her entire body of work and perhaps cemented by the recency of her incredible performance at Michigan. The third team All-American nod is still an incredible achievement and a more accurate reflection of her impact on the entirety of this one season.

Ok, but of the 10 finalist named less than a month ago 8 made 1st team, one made 2nd and then Megan the 3rd team. So I guess she didn’t finish strong and it hurt.

Rachel Garcia did it again today.
Shut out #3 seed Washington and hit a 3 run home in bottom of the 10th to out UCLA in the final.
Lights out pitching, timely hitting, Garcia is the best player in college softball.
Was no shame in us losing to her and UCLA. Everyone seems to be.

Yes, UCLA is in the driver’s seat to make it to the finals. I wish we could have played someone other than Oklahoma or UCLA. Would have been interesting to see us play the number 4 or 6 team for example.

And to think, our ace pitcher next year had some serious stats against UCLA:
5 2/3 innings pitched, allowing a total of 4 baserunners, 11 strikeouts and 1 earned run.

Always a bit of consolation knowing it took the eventual NC to take you out. What UCLA did to OU today was a complete humiliation (like what some of the butt-hurt Michigan fans thought UCLA would do to JMU). In hindsight, JMU put up a heck of a good challenge to UCLA.
