These are some really bizarre comments.
I mean, you've been at Ark State 5 years...you inherited a team that won the Sun Belt 3 straight seasons and won 2 more Sun Belt Championships in the first 3 seasons, and you have one of the better (if not best) rosters since you've been at Ark State and you're talking about patience and building for the future?
The program he inherited was a house of cards with no foundation for sustained success. Good coaching hides a lot of deficiencies in the program and that was what had occurred before Blake came along. His sustained success, with questionable roster building, is still building a foundation of success from which future teams can build on.
Eric, did you even know we had a football team prior to 2014?
When is the last time ya'll played ECU?
I have zero memory of us ever playing ECU. I'm sure we have, but I have no memory of it.
Played them twice, and lost both times.

I can't help but picturing this as an ad on a website.
"Arkansas State fans hates him. Sunbelt coaches despise him. Here's the secret on how Blake Anderson wins at least 7 games a year and won't be fired!"

We were supposed to host them in 1997 but they ditched the game to join CUSA.

He could have just went all in on high school players and left out the JUCO players...in the long run that's his best bet I think. But it also would have meant at least 2 seasons of losing football games...and how many AState fans would have accepted and embraced that after Freeze, Malzahn and Harsin...not many. Does our recruiting suffer during that rebuild??? Don't know. Unless we really crap the bed over the last 4 games BA is back next year. BA needs to back off of the JUCO boys immediately and be much more selective on picking up P5 castaways...sign nothing but high school talent this recruiting season...and the same next year...we have enough talent coming back in the next 2 years to be competitive while the new recruits learn, train and eat. All is not lost folks...but the ship needs to make a hard right.
Having 0nly 40 players on scholarship when Blake came is not true and you do defend him with such a statement. He created his numbers situation primarily by bringing in JUCO's. Even if it were true, you understand that five years of recruiting (125 guys) would have corrected the problem? Study the record and do not allow Blake to get away with this numbers shell he's running.

I just can’t help but feel he’s losing his moxie as a head man here. I don’t think he’s gonna resign nor do I think he’ll get fired after this season but also think we’re seeing the beginning of the end for the Anderson Era

Yeah looking around the stands for the SEMO game, I was pretty convinced Anderson is done. Now it is just the wait for him to get fired which might be after 2019, maybe after 2020 when his current deal expires but he is rapidly losing the support of the fans. What I am certain of is he lacks the self-awareness to see what is happening nor does he have the savvy to be able to chase a high paying assistant gig where he can reinvent himself and then re-enter the head coaching market with that added credibility with background of never having a losing season as a head coach.
Anderson will fly the plane into the ground because he's too proud to pull the eject lever.

RE: Blake Anderson comments
For stAte fans it comes down to one question. Can we do better? GS fans have gone through this before having coaches who do OK but not great. Mike Sewak and Chris Hatcher are prime examples. Hatcher always seemed to hover around .500 each season but Sewak was a lot like Anderson. He won games, he got us to conference championships but he never could seem to win the big one's, get us deep into the FCS playoffs or keep from angering fans and supporters.
If you guys do make a move at HC I hope it turns well for you because you never know what you'll get to follow that HC you want gone. In the case of Sewak we got that scumbag VanGorder but in the case of Hatcher we got a good one in Jeff Monkin.

Yeah, having a borderline coach is a very tricky thing for an AD, because you can make a hire that makes sense that will make the fans happy and if the new guy tanks then your seat is going to be on fire. Just have to make sure you've got a good hire in hand.

I was 1 in 1992. There is a strange phenomenon called "infantile amnesia" rendering my memory of this game irretrievable. But maybe if I meet with my lawyers, I can recall the exact events of that game.

Don’t compare Sewak and Hatcher. Hatcher sucked. Below .500 as a head coach. Sewak won a ton. Plus multiple playoff games.
