Did you guys not watch the RU game and to some extent the Waste Mgt. game? You must have started drinking when the scoring began without watching what was going on. In addition, our D was not solid against RU either. Sure we had two or three remarkable plays on D, but RU marched at ease up the field on us. We have tremendous talent, but it hasn't been harnessed into a machine like the second half of 2016 was. If you look back the first half of the championship year was no bed of roses, but our coaches were able to get into the heads of our young athletes as the season progressed and the rest was history.
Against W&M the offense had 444 yds, responsible for 37 of 51 points. Only offensive issue that game was a couple too many FGs vs W&M.
Against RU had 543 yds offense/responsible for 49 of 63 points. Nothing wrong woth the offense that game.
As far as the defense vs RU, RU marched up the field at ease for the 1st half. Didn’t do squat the 2nd.
-RU had 337 yds offense. 282 yards 1st half, 55 yards 2nd half
-That was with no depth at DT with Atariwa out (Greene & Black were going virtually the entire game), and Word wasn’t back at LB yet.
With those 2 back for the last 2 games, big difference.
The last 2 games I have seen a defensive machine out there. Sure, VU’s offense blows, but SBU was avg about 37 ppg vs their 6 IAA opponents coming into the game, and hadn’t been held to less than 28 by any of them.
Like just about everyone, I share a concern of the offense. My only defensive concern would be injuries.
Spot on. Don't think people realize how big of a loss Atariwa was for the Richmond and Elon games. Very noticeable difference in our run D.

Speaking of the offensive problems it is interesting to note that out of 124 FCS teams, JMU is 15th in scoring, but a mediocre 62nd in yards.
Obviously there have been lots of defensive TD’s and Special teams TD’s.
It would be neat to see how JMU’s pure offensive scoring compared to all other teams.
At any rate, sometimes a good defense is your best offense. It feels like one of those years.

I think keshaun Moore is a future star.
But he’s a young pup still learning.
Word is playing really well and it’s good to have him healthy. Along with Adeeb back, the only weak spot on the D is the #2 corner and the safeties are still a little green.
But the front 6/7 is as nasty as ever.

The 2nd corner is Oliver. Don't think he is a weak spot.
With Davis at the 3rd corner/small LB, and Tutt off the bench, & depth with Sophs Carroll & McCormick, both of whom played as true Fr, don't see any weakness at corner.
Like you said, inexperienced safeties would be the only concern, and I would add injuries (depth at some positions isn't what it will be next year).

What's that expression, offense wins games, defense wins championships.

McCormick started last week and rotated with Oliver and tutt at that spot against stony.
And you ain’t paying attention if you haven’t seen that 2nd corner spot get torched all year.

I was a little concerned how SB converted those two 4th down passes on their last drive. Assuming they were directed to trade distance for time, but would have rather seen them stop Stony Brook cold.
