Louisiana beat NMSU worse than you did and played App tougher than you will. Arkansas State played better last week as well.
Louisiana also played them in Lafayette instead of in the second of two long road trips in nine days, but whatever makes you feel better.
They also beat us way worse in San Marcos.

Not really. I've got you penciled in as one of our possible losses in the ongoing season. One that that doesn't work is that your victory came early while they were still seeking an identity. Rebuilding with a new coach is difficult.

Looks like someone is building an excuse for Thursday. We had to fly across the country on a short week.

Oh good. I was concerned that there wouldn't be a discussion about App State vs. Georgia Southern in this thread.

5. ULM (+1) - Scraped out a win to get back to .500 and currently leaders in the west.
6. Coastal (+1) - Decent non-conference win
7. Louisiana (-3) - Maybe don't deserve to drop so much, but all the losses this week came from the bottomfeeders.
8. Georgia State (-) - Speaking of....
9. South Alabama (-) - Bye
10. Texas State (-) - Best chance at a 2nd win next week. Can they get it?
Regardless of who wins Thursday, I don't expect the top 2 to be any different.

I'd say App and Georgia Southern are at the top. It gets cloudy after that with Arkansas State, Troy, and Louisiana. I also think ULM and Coastal may be included in that mix. I think Georgia State and South Alabama are the next tier, but could include ULM or Coastal, I just don't have a good read on them. Texas State is definitely the worst, though.

Again, I believe that Louisiana is better than Georgia Southern right now. At this point, I'd almost consider Georgia Southern the 3rd or 4th team. Louisiana quite possibly lost a game they would win 7 times out of 10 against Coastal. Common opponents show that Louisiana has performed better as well. They've also played Three AP Top 25 times which accounts for three of their four losses.
Georgia Southern has played one Top 25 team and that game was difficult to watch. The rest of their schedule outside of Arkansas State has been relatively simple. Arkansas State however has a propensity for giving up the big play which I thought may be a product of the Georgia Southern offense, but then App was able to do it, and then Georgia State after that. Thus, my deduction is that Georgia Southern may be the third or fourth team in the conference. The next four weeks against App, ULM, Troy, and Coastal will show exactly how good they are.

Alas, you have 2 points in the Coaches Poll. Their opinion matters more than mine.
You are aware that in our only two common opponents (USA and Ark St) our offense has been more efficient than yours right? So are you also unimpressed with your own offense? Cause you should be.

App was up 42-7 at halftime against USA and beat Arkansas State by 26 points in Jonesboro.

Not trolling. We will find out on Thursday and Saturday whether or not i'm right.
Louisiana played Alabama and put up 14 points. Their running backs actually performed decently prior to Alabama rotating in freshman that will be redshirting. Then they played Mississippi State who again, is tougher than anyone not named Clemson that Georgia Southern has played to this point. Their wins against common opponents of Georgia Southern have been more decisive.
Point is that I think Louisiana is higher in the Conference Power Rankings than Southern. Again, playing three teams in the Top 25 to Georgia Southern's one is a lot different. You can take offense to what I'm saying, but in watching both teams, I've been more impressed by Louisiana as a team, than I have been with Georgia Southern, as a team. Southern's defense is obviously better but the offense is going to hold you all back.

I explained my thought process. Georgia State beat ULM 46-14 yet most people have them behind ULM. I still believe that Arkansas State is the better team and if they had actually attempted field goals and played the field position game, they would've won. Their first two drives ended in turnover on downs after driving the length of the field. Georgia Southern's longest drive of the game was their last drive which was 10 plays. The next to longest was 9 plays which gained a grand total of 10 yards.
All scores came off of big plays. I wouldn't bank on having 4 or 5 runs of 40 plus yards against App. It could happen, but it would be unexpected. And again, Louisiana has lost to three teams who were or have been ranked in the AP Top 25, out of four losses.

Am I mis-remembering or were you not arguing with me after that game when I said I thought Arkansas State was the better team even though they got beat?

Louisiana was better. We probably should have beaten GS if we could have gotten the ball to bounce our way on one of 3 plays. If take the points on 4th and Goal on the 1 on our first drive, if their field goal that banked off the upright didn't bounce in, or if we make our 2 point play. Not one of those things went our way and it is what it is. We were never in the Louisiana game.

Gracias amigo. My impressions as well after watching both games. Got the same impression after watching both teams play NMSU as well.
Looking at the drive charts between Arkansas State and Georgia Southern and seeing that Arkansas State refused to take points when given the opportunity while moving the ball at will between the 20's shows that game could've been completely different as well.
