Maine (homecoming)
There is no real advantage either way on wet field turf running the ball other than on misdirection plays. The offense has a huge advantage in the passing game unless there is a torrential downpour. It's a tough match up. Let's look for improvements week over week.

Seriously? Even though both teams play in the same conditions, the weather absolutely would be a factor in any game because it depends on the style of play of the two teams. Passing teams generally fare worse in wet, muddy conditions because it is harder for receivers to make their cuts and to catch wet balls. Running teams usually do better in the slop. Ergo, if Maine can't pass but does run well and the Tribe does not stop the run well, and if the Tribe is not running well because Maine stops the run well, then that would seem to indicate that Maine has the decided advantage in Saturday's game.

We play on FieldTurf. There will be no mud, and no slop. Worst effect is a wet ball.

Then it favors Maine all the more.

Maine is a better team on a perfect day. Any thing can happen on game day, but there is no argument that they are a better team thus far this season.

Weather does cause turnovers, and that oblong ball doesn’t discriminate.

You never know, rooting for an upset. Can’t wait til Saturday!

Homecoming is apparently a Green-Out...

Why bother with this if its a half-measure announcement. These require significant effort to get the crowd on the same page well before gametime.

This would signal the team will wear the classic all-green (with a silver or gold stripe down the pant legs) uniforms, the 1940s Buster Ramsey/Jack Cloud era unis. Still the best look...Jimmye has pulled them out for Homecoming (and other big games) before.

Agree with previous post too: unless all-out effort is made to communicate this to students, fans, and returning alums it won't take hold.

Maine has 26 sacks through 5 games....Got to figure a way to counter that in our game plan.

We have our work cut out for us this week, no doubt. We’ve got guys down, so who’s going to step up. Who’s going to be asked to step up. A guy can’t step up without the ball, so who ever this game plan revolves around is going to have to deliver.

As demonstrated in their last two games, Maine is not going away if they get behind. The come in with a pretty strong feeling that they are never out of a game.

I’ll state the obvious, but we need to find a way to be consistent all four quarters. We can’t be have success for just 8-10 minutes of a game when we have the ball. We have to find a way finish drives. We’re not doing badly moving the ball to their side of the field, but we have to finish drives.

Well, apparently we are really going to need folks to step up, on offense.
ESPN-Richmond reporting that Albert Funderburke will also miss tomorrow's game, along with Shon and Dedmon.

Mr. Wright, time to do your thing.

If Owen hasn’t turned some heads yet, he will tomorrow.

I say its the perfect storm of 2nd/3rd string cohesion from practice and minimal film for Maine to prep.

Wow. High snap Maine recovered touchdown first play of the game.

A shotgun shot to our foot.

Good defensive start looks like they are well prepared and playing hard. Now the offense needs to match them
