Charlotte - Brad Lambert (11/18/18)---hired Will Healy (12/4/18)
UMass - Mark Whipple (11/23/18)——hired Walt Bell (12/3/18)
Central Michigan - John Bonamego (11/23/18)---hired Jim McElwain (12/4/18)
North Carolina - Larry Fedora (11/25/18)-----hired Mack Brown (11/27/18)

ODU took playcalling duties away from DC Rich Nagy before the Marshall game. It obviously didn't help.

Bowling Green - Mike Jinks (10/15/18)

Jinks is a guy some wanted for UNT before Littrell was hired. His reputation is more of a recruiter more than as a coach.

Bad news: He was a bad hire
Good news: By calling Jinks first, Bowling Green gets a Coke

RE: 2018 football coaching changes
Hopefully Western fires this idiot. Below is some context on Western's coaches since 2010

BP paid Western for coaching

Brohm was paid a total 1.3 million to coach for 3 seasons. 600k, 800k & 800k, and it cost him 900k to leave

Willie was paid I believe 1.1 million for his 3 years, 200k, 475k, 475k and a 350k buy out so a total of 800k

Willie 800k total 3 seasons
BK paid Western 350k 1 season
Brohm 1.3 million 3 seasons
Boy Idiot 1.6 million 2 seasons if he's fired add another 900k, so 2.5 million

total paid for 3 previous coaches over 7 seasons $1,750,000 total wins 54 wins

Boy Idiot 800k, 800k, 900k buy out if he's fired after this season so 2.5 million for 2 seasons and right now 7 wins or...

for 2 years of coaching 750k more than the previous 3 Western coaches, 7 combined seasons

Boy Idiot 800k, 800k, 800k. 600k buyout total of 3 million dollars if he's fired after next season. Or...

for 3 years of coaching $1,250, 000 more than the previous 3 Western coaches, 7 combined seasons

RE: 2018 football coaching changes
Bowling Green situation almost mirrors WKU situation now. Dino goes to Syracuse, their AD goes on Google and finds an OC at Texas Tech even though their HC was calling most of the plays and he is canned 2.5 years in. Crossing my fingers Sanford is fired this time next season, a lot of the same parallels...Bowling Green was like WKU scoring points left and right and their new HC takes over and they immediately go down in offense and become a laughing stock......Sound familiar?

Just like new QBs, every head coach is a roll of the dice. Ellllllllllllis Johnson looked great on paper.

Sanford didn't even look good on Paper. Every offense he was a part of was better when he left. Pretty sure he is a hypnotist. No other way to explain how he was hired.

Did he though? A lifelong coordinator in the good ole boy system, with no prior offers to be a head coach? Kind of makes you wonder what the hell was going on there. Bet Fedora wishes he hadn't left now.

RE: 2018 football coaching changes
WKU would have been better off giving me the job. I'm positive I would have closed that game out against Louisville. I don't understand how he was offered, let alone considered. Someone mentioned firing him by this time next season. Why wait? I'd go ahead and slip him the pink sheet after the final game this season. Odds are it'll be a loss, no matter who you're playing. I'm really upset with WKU in the decision they made hiring this fool. You guys were trending up every year, since 2011. He flat lined last year with great talent, and we see how truly great he is this year, without a qb to make him look somewhat competent.

Most WKU fans feel same except for an IU former WKU blogger....Most are saying we cannot afford to fire him now. I seriously doubt our AD is going to admit defeat after 1.5 seasons in even when most fans see clearly the guy and his staff have no clue.....Now in a year, if we are 1-5 and coaching staff still has shown nothing I could see him getting fired......

What will happen is we will finish with 2 wins this season, our AD will sit down with Sanford Jr and tell him he has to make some changes on the coaching staff namely firing his bum father who is just collecting a check now and his Indiana St. buddies.....What WKU fans are hoping is Jr's ego will be so big he will refuse and we get a surprise firing of him this off season and all parties move on.....I still cannot believe Arizona was seriously considering this clown for their HC job last season....I don't think JR realized what expectations he was entering at WKU this time around...He was here when nothing was expected and now its a complete 360 and he is feeling the heat of some pissed off people....He may admit defeat on his own but I doubt it with his ego.....This past week he cited UNCC's vaunted CUSA record now at 2-1, they are 2-1 because he got outcoached again in the 2nd half for about the 15th straight game...

This is the norm for teams that try to sustain being good at the G5 level. You have a coach that leaves after a couple really good years. You hire someone and pay them more to try to maintain really good performance. The hire is always going to be questionable because we G5ers will never hire a proven/ successful HC. We can get lucky where we hire a P5 reject where we don't have to pay them that much because part of their salary is being supplemented from their prior contract. It is getting more difficult to hire really good P5 coordinators because they make 2x what we can pay them and so many now get good P5 HC jobs.
