And anything else concerning the SMU vs Texas Tech Game...

Who will be going to the game here?
I will be coming up from Longview once again for the game. Cant wait for it. Maybe just Maybe we'll be able to pull off an upset but Im not going to count on it. But I do think we'll be more competitive than last year.

While this will be a home game, I'm guessing the crowd will be a 50/50 split with all the Red Raider alums living in D/FW. Unfortunately, this won't help our 'homefield' advantage. This game might last 4 hours based on the number of passes thrown by Tech alone, so we'll have to be well conditioned and have depth on defense. I see this game getting into the 30s/40s for Tech and SMU will probably show flashes of good play only to pull the 'typical' Mustang follies that we can't seem to break away from in season opening games. Ultimately, I predict that the game's final margin of victory will look larger than what it should. Tech 45 - SMU 16

I'm especially wary of how we'll fare in the trenches. Unfortunately, Tech has us outgunned on both sides of the ball, which doesn't bode well for us. For us to win, we'll have to catch some early brakes and CAPITALIZE (something we don't do well) on our opportunities in order to have a chance.

Just calling it how I see it. Had to take off my rose colored glasses for this analysis.

Probably something similiar to last year in Lubbock. SMU leads early, Tech gets it close or takes the lead by half, and second half gets out of hand. At least we'll have the Boulevard to drown our sorrows instead of being in Lubbock.

SMU will be better on both sides of the ball and will do a better job of controlling the clock and not giving up big plays. Tech wins comfortably, but not a blowout like last year. More like 31-13.

CP- A 31-13 home loss isn't a blow out? A score like that would most likely cover the spread for Tech and I believe we kept the score closer than that 2 years ago at Ford when Tech had Klingsbury, Tech was a Top 20 team, and we didn't even have a QB (ie Tate Wallis).

I don't consider 31-13 a blowout with the memory of 58-10 still lingering. I hope as much as anyone that this year's team is the surprise team for 2004, but reality tells me we are still a year away from having key positions manned by guys with 3 years in the program. I'm hopeful we can play all the bowl teams on our schedule within a couple of TDs and manage to win a couple of games this year. I don't look for this team to really gel until 2005. Hope I'm wrong.

Other than saying a home 31-13 loss isn't a blow out, I agree. We have a lot to look forward to and 2005 should be interesting. Good to see the signing of the JC DL today.....should be a great addition to an area we already have some depth at. This will be my first year living outside of Dallas since graduating in 1996... I'm just trying to stay excited about SMU football from 2,000 miles away.

Tech- 31, SMU- 17 .... score is 14-10 at halftime.

That's 2 TD's and they don't cover the 23.5 pt. spread ...

It SHOULD'VE been 24-21 two years ago (we scored twice, on 3rd and 4th down on 1 yd line), that would've put us up 21-17 so who knows if we could've held on. But that's all in the past.

I hope for that kind of game. But I have no idea what to expect b/c I expected us to at least stay the same (3-9) or improve one game last year from our 2002 campaign.

Still, I hate predicting losses. Ohh, what the hell -- we're gonna win. 24-23. We'll be down 24-21 with 0:04 left to go and McMurtay will win with a 37 yard FG.

We're 3-21 over the past two seasons. Predicting a loss makes tells us you're not insane. Heck we couldn't even beat Baylor last year and N Texas would probably kick our arse. Rome burnt but we still love watching our Ponies. Why?

Quote:The Mustangs are tackling one of the nation's toughest schedules, facing six teams in 2004 that advanced to postseason play in 2003 (Texas Tech, TCU, Oklahoma State, Boise State, Fresno State and Tulsa.  CollegeFootballNews.com ranked SMU's non-conference slate as the fifth toughest in the nation in 2004.

Dang ... I was close. I predicted 14 points and was right. I said 31-17 ... and it was 27-13. I was off a mere 4 points on each teams final score.

Congrats to the Stangs tonight. Looked MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH better ... that will translate into wins this year. We didn't give up, and stayed in the game.

Interesting post-game too! haha ... what more can you ask for??
