Eh. I think the nonconference schedule is strong enough where they could lose 3 and still get a high seed depending on their league performance. Remember they lost 2 in 2018 and wound up a 2 seed. This is a better non-league schedule with more opportunities to slip up (and not hurt your metrics in doing so). The best thing about college basketball is inflated records don't get overvalued much. It really does matter who play and how you play to a very large degree.

I am less confident in the league being strong enough but concerned there are too many decent teams that can beat you. I am not sold on Memphis being top 25 good, they should good but not great. I doubt Houston is protected seed good again. There are about five others that could be good enough to make the post season if things break the right way.

Anyway, I don’t see a four seed or better with three non-conference losses. That would basically require 17-1 or better in league play. Basically have to beat Tennessee and at least one other big time opponent while sweeping the mid-majors.

A lot of decent teams isn't bad. College basketball isn't just about tallying losses. Get a lot of quality (q1/q2) wins, have solid predictive metrics and UC will get a good seed.

I wonder if maybe the lower-tier buy games just don't make a lot of money for us. Otherwise, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to not fill out the full 13 games since the schedule is strong overall. I'm a UC basketball junkie and will gladly take another game to watch and enjoy. Still plenty happy with the schedule though.

Any early predictions on our non-conference record? With a new staff/system and a lot of new faces, I think 10-2 would be tremendous, but 9-3 is a more realistic goal.

This crosstown shootout it looks like is scheduled 12/7 at 5pm which is the same day the AAC has the conference football championship at a time to be announced. You obviously have to get to the game, but i'm guessing Espn didn't give them a choice. I guess worry about it when it gets here, but at least it's not a year at the Shoe.

Fox Sports has the game since it's at X.

I hope the X game gets to the point where the Miami game is. No reason to care about those lower schools.

RE: 2019-2020 Hoops schedule
I can't recall, but i think the AAC fball conf. championship was a network game last year? Was that the game the Ucf qb blew up his leg.

It will probably start in the afternoon for sure, but with the shootout at 5pm who knows if they cross. It will be a good problem to have. Lot of lumber to split yet in fball. I recall the bowl against Duke with the fantastic finish with Kelce going to the house occurred the night of the Uc/Iowa st. home game which ran into each other. Won 1/lost 1. Was watching fball finish at the ball game in the old lounge in the Ucats club.

AAC Championship is scheduled for 3:30 that day on ABC. It is certain to conflict with the Shootout. I'm hoping I'll have to miss the Shootout because I'm at Nippert.

Odds that the game is at Nipper are not very high, basically have to beat UCF and Memphis and maybe Houston. I actually think there is a decent chance 6-2 wins the division but puts UC on the road.

I guess we'll see. I agree 6-2 could win the division (need to sweep UCF/Temple at home and would need both to lose 1 additional game). In that scenario we'd likely be on the road. I'm not very high on Houston. I think if UC beats UCF at home it will come down to what happens at the Liberty Bowl on the final day of the regular season.

Ideally be nice to host AAC CH. Win CH. Have the AD put the Shootout on the big screen after fball game, then we sweep the day with back-to-back wins.

RE: 2019-2020 Hoops schedule
My guess is the fball game given it's a championship game will carry the day. Cross that bridge when it's time. Probably wouldn't help Fox Sports ratings, but given they've been bad it probably would not be a concern at this point.

Agree, I think Memphis is the team to come out of the West. Crazy it sounds don't sleep on Tulane.

Agree with this. I think they could be really solid. I also think Navy could have a big bounce back season. I see Houston as a middle of the west team. Big offense, utterly horrific on defense.

A big factor will be who comes out of September healthy heading into the conference season. Teams lose qb's and other pivotal guys to injuries, things can change.
